My Beautiful OLED Screen.... NOOOO!

Right yesterday whilst at work i managed to walk into a table and smash my san fran almighty crunch came from my pocket.... instantly my first thought was "Oh crap!" But all it had done was crack the plastic that covers the camera... no big loss for me really...

anyway woke up this morning to a "Blank SD" Message it asked me if I'd like to format it i said yes... it continues to give me this message then at about 10am this morning went to get my phone out of my pocket and it wouldn't let me unlock my phone (standard slide lock screen)

I cant access my sd card even by PC as i don't have an SD card reader and i don't understand why my beautiful oled screen is now not working properly!

PS. Sorry bout the Shat quality tis an awful camera...

Right Its using Sebastian404's De-Orangenated ROM r6 Lite and is rooted therefore has cost me my warranty is there anyway to save it?

Pull the battery! Power it back up and the screen will work again. That's why I've gone back to 2.1 for now. Freezes up screen Input once a day, battery cover will get very baggy pulling it off all the time.

Warranty won't cover a smashed phone anyway.

Have a look at your home insurance - if you have a good policy, you may be covered under that.

Right tried pulling the battery thats not worked but the screen is now constantly showing that im "Multi" Touching it hence why all my touches are pretty much being ignored so i think im gonna go out buy a new sd card and then flash a new rom and hope for dear god that it works! :P

If its constantly multi-touching to me it sounds like somewhere the screen has been damaged...

Try looking at the screen to see if it looks damaged.

It could be a problem like Newton's Rings (although i don't think capacitive screens can get this) where the touchscreen layers (again, capacitive screens don't have layers) are stuck together after being damaged, causing it to think it is being touched.

It could be a similar problem?

Should be able to format the SD card using Clockwork Mod, that should work better than Android itself. Then link it up to your pc in recovery, mount USB Storage and see if you can access it to dump a new rom across.

I called orange stating that I the screen had cracked on my san francisco while charging, they sent a replacement out for the next day!

Got a replacement phone from Orange the other day as I fried it by plugging in a car charger. It had R3 Rom on it. They haven't said anything....Yet!!!

If it had no outward damage and the screen was playing up I'd say you'd be in luck.... if the back is all smashed where you bashed it then they'll probably just look at you, smile, and point at the door.

Worth a try anyway though man.

No dont take it to the orange store, they wont do a thing, and say its your fault, you need to call customer services and tell them (just use the excuse it was charging on your desk and the screen cracked), worked for me.

Good luck and let us all know how you get on. Poor wee SF, if you have to come clean and say you fell on it, say it was out in the snow and that you've fractured a rib when you fell on it lol, they might take pity or be worried about sueing. Turn on the full pater!

That's a load of trump..

Orange PAY&GO customers have 28 days from the bricks and mortar shop they bought it from, during which if their SanFran....ehem.... konks out, the shop will replace it from shop stock.

After 28 days you have to call them on 450, tell the nice lady that it just went to sleep and never woke up and no amount of updating will bring it back to life, she will send you a new one next day delivery.

This will happen if the phone is less than 12 months old, it does not look physically damaged, you don't tell them it has been modded from here to the other side of Christmas and back..:P
