Guest dagrim1 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I hope it is ok for me to place this topic here, if not... Please do close it. Since I'm not a UK citizen I can not buy the Advent Vega (regardless of the stock issues), instead I opted for the Point of View Mobii 10 tablet which seems to be just about identical to the Vega specs and looks-wise. http://www.pointofview-online.com/showroom...;product_id=188 I am trying to figure out just how identical these things are, and looking at the possibility of flashing the custom vega roms, using the vega market trick, etc on this POV device but can anyone advice or comment on this? At the moment I simply don't dare too much, afraid of bricking the device and not being able to return it to it's original state but are there any tips/guidelines/ways to figure out more about these details and things?
Guest TylerDurdenK Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Well it certainly looks the same apart from the white casing. All the hardware bits (dock, speakers etc) seem to be in exactly the same place. Try it, what harm can it do :P ?

Haha, that's exactly what I'm wondering :D I can imagine that flashing a wrong image might do quite some harm... I'll prolly try the market fix/thing first and see what that brings. Will have to wait for the weekend though...

I succesfully flashed the Vega 1.04 full software update on the Mobii and applied Pauls mod as well. All is working fine :P

Guest dagrim1 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Where did you buy the Mobii from? From a dutch (I live in the Netherlands) online shop called modern.nl and I must say I haven't seen any other places where I could order one ;)
Guest hanzzz Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Hey, I also bought the mobii tablet and I already found the advent software update. Can I simply run this update from the tablet itself? Through the software update option under software tools?

Dagrim is the expert here as he has done it. But I doubt very much you can install the vega rom from within a third party android. I think youll need to boot into nvidias flashibg mode

I found a manual on http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/. Problem is that no USB cable came with the Mobii tablet. I need such a cable (A-A) to be able to connect to the PC.

So if you connected a USB stick would the tablet recognise it.

But I must say I didn't try it with the POV firmware so can't comment if and how it worked before :)

On the website where you got your tablet from states it has a fully functional USB port but now with the Vega Rom on there it is only a slave. There is another thread going on trying to suss whether the Vegas USB port can be made fully functional with a software hack.
Guest hanzzz Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks for the info. There is another thread going on trying to suss whether the Vegas USB port can be made fully functional with a software hack. In the original state the Mobii tablet does have a fully functional USB port. I am having problems with the touch screen. When in landscape mode (webcam on top) the bottom of the screen does not respond very well. Sometimes a touch is interpreted as multiple touches and sometimes the l character is read when pushing backspace. When I use the app multitouch visualizer 2 I can see that especially in the bottom left and bottom right corners, the tablet cannot interpret my touches very well. It gets kind of shaky. The problem gets worse when the tablet is connected to a power supply. I read about this problem in other threads, mostly stating that this is a hardware related issue. I was wondering if you experienced similar problems. Either before or after the software update. If this really is a hardware issue, I might want to replace my tablet before getting started on software updates.
