How to identify an OLED screen?

So I have just bought a ZTE Blade from a random user on eBay so how do I identify if it has an OLED screen or not? The seller doesn't know if it has it or not.

The phone has been bought from England originally.

If it's from the UK it's OLED.

OLED screens generaly have slight pinkish tint when set on very low brightness

also, if you display pure black page, they have no backlight glow around the edges of the screen.

in other words, you should see absolutly no difference between black page and "off" screen.

Very offtopic but when this phone comes out in this online store are you able to order it outside Switzerland? Because the prize is unbelievable cheap comparing to other stores! Its only about 75$ or something.. And if you can order it outside Switzerland then I'm so badword pissed because I just bought one for 213.95$ including shipping costs..

i agree blacks are blacker on a oled screen, and no backlight.

Just look at this video:

Left one is (AM)OLED, right one is LCD.

Basically, if you can see backlight on a dark page then it's LCD.

I'm in walking distance of flagship Orange store will check if white blade is oled. Also if anyone wants. One could buy one and shipp. It to anywhere in UK or Wu for 120 quid sealed with credit pm me if you want one at that price I accept papal :-)

if a stylus or similar works it's not OLED,

If only your finger works then it is OLED.

No, that will only tell you if you have a capacitive or resistive touchscreen.

Edit: You can get capacitive stylus now as well ;)

Yeah, a capacitive stylus is designed for capacitive screens, such as the one in the blade.

Which sort of capacative stylus would you guys recommend?

Apparently theres two types available..

One with a little flat plastic disc as a tip

the other seems to have a spongy type tip.

It'd be nice to be able to tell from the outside of the sealed box.

I suppose the quickest shopping-usable way is to look at the software version.

My supposition being that if its OUK_P729BV1.0.0B05 it MUST be OLED (because that gives odd colours on LCD), whereas if its OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08 then its likely (or is it certain?) to be TFT LCD.

Has anyone bought an OLED phone with the newer version software? Or does v8 mean the phone must be LCD?
