Anyone know why my contacts are in Triplicate?

in my contacts list I have one set of contacts, one name for each person, with one or more numbers associated with that name

On several apps such as dialler, I have each contact listed 3 times one under each other and the number(s) associated with that contact

and no its not listing each number as a seperate contact, where a name has more than one number, that contact is listed another 3 times for each number

one contact has 12 entries (4 numbers)

The same for some other apps, mainly ones that use Facebook to sign in, I thought it might be a Facebook issue, but the phone does not have my FB login credentials yet (not signed in since I uploaded the new rom) so it cant be that.

And the dialler not not use FB

Its puzzling me (and annoying)

its not Google, I never updated the contacts after I installed the last 2 roms, they downloaded automatically from Google

i had the same issue and edited my phone book then backed it up to sd card

when the phone synced to google it asked to confirm to delete a few hundred contacts which i oked i have not had any issus since so it may be down to google ??

Unfortunately I tried that

and yes the first time I did it, I had to delete loads, but now when I install a new rom it syncs the contacs and only downloads the actual contacts onto the phone. (not the dupicates)

I even tried it earlier today, deleting all contacts and installing from SD card again

i updated my rom earlier and .......................

some of my numbers are listed 5 times ;) :P :P ;) :lol: :lol:

Found it

it was a stupid hidden setting in Google

Must have uploaded the duplicates and not deleted them off the server just hid them

Goodle.com then settings, google account settings, then Dashboard then manage contacts it shows them all there

I deleted them and re sync'd and its ok now ;)
