Guest untrueparadox Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Guys, I bought a Kensington iPod/iPad charger from Amazon.com here for about $3 with shipping after rebate and it works perfectly with the Streak. Just wanted to put it out there for the ones that don't want to pay insane prices for the car kit. It works without any modifications or shorting of pins and it is small enough to look awesome on your car. If you have an iPad, this thing can apparently charge it too because it has 2.1 amps of power. link: http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-K39224US-...1253&sr=8-2 rebate: http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01...V194944489_.pdf Go grab it while you can, rebate ends on the 11th. Looks like this in my car. nvm. looks like amazon raised the price back. buy.com has it for $8 after rebate with free shipping http://www.buy.com/prod/kensington-powerbo.../216233800.html http://ak.buy.com/buy_assets/retail/pdfs/1...kensington3.pdf Edited December 3, 2010 by untrueparadox

Looks like this in my car. Who knew... But I thought that the ipad/iphone connector is diff from Dell Streak?? I thought Streak is using PDMI standard??
Guest netonyx Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) Who knew... But I thought that the ipad/iphone connector is diff from Dell Streak?? I thought Streak is using PDMI standard?? The cable won't work with the Streak, but the cigarette lighter adapter will work with a Dell Streak cable. An ordinary cell charger adapter won't provide enough power for the Streak, but this one sounds like it will. Now if we could just find another source for the cable (that didn't require soldering), we'd be all set. Edited December 2, 2010 by netonyx
Guest ClippinWings Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Who knew... But I thought that the ipad/iphone connector is diff from Dell Streak?? I thought Streak is using PDMI standard?? I think he is confusing the term "charger" and "adapter" Looks to me like he's using a Dell Streak cable still.
Guest jii Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Ah... I see. It make sense now, my fault for not reading it correctly. Thanks for the info and link for a cheap car usb charger adapter. BTW, I also search all over the internet and have not found any cheaper PDMI/usb cable or PDMI <-> mini/micro USB adapter. It is really sad that we have to paid a fortune for a cable. Love the steak though... i meant Streak :-)
Guest coronet Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) That's great news, but you only have until next Saturday to claim the rebate. So you better order the device today or tomorrow (Sat. Dec 4), or get expedited shipping as late as Tuesday! EDIT: I think this is the product page you mean to link to ($9 versus $25) http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-K39224US-...g/dp/B003GSL6UG Edited December 3, 2010 by coronet
