Guest l4mby Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Please can someone offer some advice as I have purchased a white san francisco today which straight away was unlocked and then flashed to try and get the orange stuff off as it is my wifes phone to use on tesco mobile. Since the custom rom the screen does not wake after it enters sleep mode, I have tried Paul's R4, Sabastians404 and Pauls stock rom but they are all the same. I have also just noticed the brightness does not adjust at all????? Could this be something new with the phone that is not compatible with the roms anymore? Does anyone have any ideas what else to try? I would even take going back to the stock rom that came with it but don't know how? The stock rom from Paul has the orange logo in blue so I presume it must be different? Are the white ones the same? Can these roms work? Help.............. Rob
Guest l4mby Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) Also I haven't tried a 2.2 rom yet but have thought about it. Would this make it even harder to get back to stock in case I can try and take it back to the shop? Thanks again. Edited December 3, 2010 by l4mby
Guest Arr Too Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 You'll just need to be patient and wait for some other white SF owner to dump their ROM. (We're all waiting with anticipation, too!)

(We're all waiting with anticipation, too!) I've run "backup" with Clockwork Mod Recovery - anyone want to tell me what files you need, and how to get them to ya? ;)
Guest Arr Too Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) Cool -- thanks! Zip up the backup (in "clockworkmod/backup" on your SD card [or in "/sdcard" on the phone]), then upload the resulting .zip file somewhere like http://www.mediafire.com and give us the link. Someone here will turn it into the right format for others to flash easily using ClockwordMod, as well as tinkering with it to make it better. Edited December 3, 2010 by Arr Too

Just to let people know I've tried Paul's Alpha2 2.2 rom and the screen wakes and brightness works! Be nice to get back to 2.1 as from what I've read the 2.2 roms have a few problems still.

Guest Arr Too Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Brilliant! New Orange UK recovery image and ROM now available here. l4mby: follow the instructions for flashing the ClockwordMod recovery image, but use the recovery image from here instead.
Guest ale_syrj Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Does your phone have a LCD screen? Because mine does and I had the same problem with most 2.1 roms.
Guest Winston69 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 I've just tried the same with my Gf's new white one and as soon as i installed superboot onto the phone it became weird, the orange's changed colour on the screen after boot and the screen wouldn't wake from sleep either. Must be because of the screen type change????

Guest Winston69 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Just flashed the recovery.img and it's still the same, hadn't even changed the rom... Clockwork is still on there but the screen goes a different colour during boot then won't turn back on after sleep and all reds seem like they have changed colour... Bugger...

Flash the whole rom, including boot.img etc. You could also try Hungarian Hedgehog or the Finnish rom.
Guest nonamer123 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 You should read what a brick really is and then don“t use that word in that context ;)
Guest Arr Too Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) Just flashed the recovery.img and it's still the same Ah... um... now you mention it jchamier did say it was a ClockworkMod backup... Err... yeah... as others said: flash the rest of the ROM, too! Edited December 3, 2010 by Arr Too
