Well , I've decided to join all the performance tips, hacks and files for CyanogenMod 0.40 in one flashable zip. :P

When flashed, this zip:

* Enables JIT;

* Sets heapsize to 24m;

* Changes wifi.supplicant_scan_interval to 30 seconds, fixing the wifi not reconnecting after sleep and saving some battery; (thanks totiadrenalin)

* Enables hardware accelaration (debug.hw.sf); (thanks totiadrenalin)

* Installs libGLES_qcom.so and gralloc.msm7k; (a big thanks again to toti ;))

* Installs the 710MHz OC kernel. (thank you starkos)

Benchmarks:

* Linpack: 4.986;

* Quadrant (total): 463;

* Quadrant (2D): 13 FPS;

* Quadrant (1st 3D): 13 FPS (average);

* Quadrant (2nd 3D - planets): 22 FPS;

* Quadrant (3rd 3D - DNA): 8 FPS;

* Neocore: 28.4;

* SetCPU short: ~515 ms (average);

* SetCPU long: ~7500 ms (average);

* SetCPU native: ~2750 ms (average).

Don't get impressed/unimpressed by the benchmarks. Try it out! Your phone will feel/be faster. :P

Also, I'm open to suggestions on what to include in a possible next version.

And now, the download ;)

For those of you who can't use a OC kernel because it bootloops, here's a version of this zip without any OC kernel:

CM0.40-performance-no-oc-signed.zip

Just flash the zip through recovery? What about compcache? Disabled to save battery?

Yes, just flash it through recovery.

I left compcache at the default value (18%). I may disable it on the next version, as it definitely saves some battery.

Any impressions about the tweaks (not from Antonio) ;)?

You can always make a nandroid backup, flash the zip, take your own impressions (better than anyone else's :P) and if you want to return to the pre-tweak state, just restore the backup you made.

(hiding under "there are no dumb questions" ;))

Should we wipe the phone? the dalvik-cache? how about returning to factory settings? none of these at all? just flash zip through recovery?

Yep, just flash through recovery, no wipe needed.

I usually wipe my dalvik cache once in a while, but that's up to you. :P

So I can install this on my 0.30 installation and keep all my settings and apps? Is this right?

You can add this thing to.

This will activate the swap on boot.

There is a Read me file in the zip.

Best regards

TOTI

thank you very much, toti! and -of course- to Antonio also

do you have a deodex-script also?

...hm... i wonder, if i should give a DTa2sd-free-setup a try. with dalvik-cache not on sd, i fear that the memory will run out of space.

and will titanium-backup of 65 apps work? hm...

best regards

So enabling hardware acceleration help in specific software (e.g. games) or just improving the phone performance in general?

What does libGLES_qcom.so and gralloc.msm7k do??

It's cool, thx. Just one question: How do I get rid of that stupid and slow ADW? I've already installed Zeam, but I can't delete adw.apk in system/app, even with root explorer. The problem is ADW sometimes running in the background which is unwanted.

I flashed with over clock, then its entered into boot loop, now how can i boot into recovery mode?

Switch phone off and press red, menu and on/off at the same time and hold it...

I've installed CyanogenMod 6 port for Pulse 0.4. Now can i install (flash from recovery) "CM0.40_performance_signed.zip"?

Yes I did so, it works.
