Guest gerolemonster Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Hi all, I bought my Orange San Francisco earlier today and installed clockworkmod 2.5.1.3. I had problems with no roms working, so I installed 2.5.0.9. Now, regardless of which rom I run, I have two problems. Firstly, I can't unlock the phone; the screen wont wake after it goes to sleep. Second, the colours are displayed wrong with everything being a slightly bluey colour. I've tried the stock Orange rom, and the orange logo is displayed as a turquoisey colour! This was not the case when I used the phone before changing anything. I am all out of ideas, and a google search for either of these problems returned no results. Please be gentle with me, this is my first Android device... Any help would be massively appreciated, I just want a working phone at this point! Thanks in advance EDIT: Just to add, when I boot, the robot is initially green, and then it changes to the weird tinted blue colour Edited December 4, 2010 by gerolemonster
Guest Arr Too Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 I suspect you need the latest Orange UK ROM.
Guest gerolemonster Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) I suspect you need the latest Orange UK ROM. Thanks for your quick reply. I'm currently using that and it suffers from the problems described EDIT: I was actually using B05 and just hadn't noticed the difference. I put B08 on and it's all good now, thank you! Guest Winston69 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Can't remember what I did exactly but I had this problem last night. I got it after installing Superboot... Erase everything under clockworkmod you can, boot, data, system etc the reflash the orange rom
Guest timROGERS Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 I bought two Orange San Francisco phones from the same shop, one today and one yesterday, and the one I bought today appears to have a TFT screen and so the Custom ROMs do not work - they screw up the colours and prevent the phone from waking from sleep. For all your people with the new screens, you need to use the original ROM until the custom ROMs are updated to match the new screen.
Guest gerolemonster Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Just to reiterate the post above really, if you've had the problems I had with a white model, you need to go back to the stock rom for now. This cleared it all up for me: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...roms-oled-roms/

Not completely true as i'm using [ROM][eclair] Customised BladeVillain 1.1.0 RLS2 on my girlfriends white san fran and it works perfectly for some reason
Guest jiggling john Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 i have this exact same problem - restoring the original rom does not cure the blue problem, fastboot + rooting causes it. how do you unroot it?
Guest Winston69 Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 i have this exact same problem - restoring the original rom does not cure the blue problem, fastboot + rooting causes it. how do you unroot it? I've just tried telling you this in the other thread, it's not the rooting that does this, it's the boot image not having the TFT drivers as far as I could tell Install a ROM that writes to the BOOT as the one I hav elinked you to and that will solve it!
Guest Arr Too Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Don't forget to wipe the cache and data (using ClockworkMod) before flashing the replacement ROM.
Guest jiggling john Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) done that, can definitely report this did not fix the problem, i'm still all blue , my guess has to be these new screens also come with slightly different software which isnt in these images Edited December 5, 2010 by jiggling john
Guest Arr Too Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Exactly which ROM(s) have you tried?
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 The white TFt is running Stock B08 The gray TFT mist be running a different Stock ROM we need a dump of this ROM so people can recover to it. Can someone dump it?
Guest jmm_wifi Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 that happened to me :-/ with a SF (Portuguese Ver) SLCD .. i tried various roms but the only one worked like a charm was the bladevillain 1.1.0 .. i get that same issue, weird blue android on boot, and after get into sleep mode it won't wake up, but you can still hear that "pling and plongs" sounds from the touchscreen ..
Guest Raspa Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Do you have a white or grey SF, jiggling john?
Guest jiggling john Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 grey, was bought yesterday. The worrying thing is there is a pile of legacy information in this forum which needs to be cleared up. I can't think im doing anything wrong - after all i managed to fastboot it, clockwork boot and install various images - including the stock one but none have removed the blue problem. I went through the usual clearing cache, restore factory defaults etc between each format and had no luck.

Not one that is based on an OLED screen rom. (Not even the Original Orange Stock rom -- its for OLED!) Guest jiggling john Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Surely installing a finnish rom etc is a bad idea on an english phone? - what differences are there? Besides, the problem here is restoring to "out of the box"
Guest oh!dougal Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 (edited) Surely installing a finnish rom etc is a bad idea on an english phone? - what differences are there? No, its a great idea. Read the first post in its thread. You don't need to speak Finnish -- its based on the latest offerings from ZTE (which went to Finland first). The r2 when it comes (with the compass fix for older phones), it should be fantastic. For now, Hungarian Hedgehog seems the most advanced 'utterly zero fuss' rom available and suitable for all the phone versions. Its not just about the choice of pre-installed apps ... Besides, the problem here is restoring to "out of the box" And for that, with a UK LCD, you need the version -08 (not the -05) of the Orange UK rom, OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08. It has its own thread. Guest Winston69 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Have you erased BOOT in clockwork under the advanced settings?
Guest iantib Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 How do you tell if its a tft or led screen? I used recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.9-modaco-r2-blade.img but when mine went to slep it wouldnt wake up, I then put OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08.recovery.img but it is stuck on the green android :-( Please can anyone advise me what to do as I'm new to mobile phone technology so this is a steep learning curve for me. Iused something called fastboot to do the rom updating. This worked on the pc side but when I put the zip on the memory card & it started to update the rom it got an error about line 80 being invalid!! C:\San\Fastboot>fastboot-windows flash recovery boot.img sending 'recovery' (2450 KB)... OKAY writing 'recovery'... OKAY C:\San\Fastboot>fastboot-windows reboot rebooting... Guest WindyMiller Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Hi had the same problem. Worth checking this great post from Steven Stevens great link Devices that have TFT Screens have the build Number OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08 Devices that have OLE Screens have the build Number OUK_P729BV1.0.0B05 I made the mistake of putting Pauls super user on which is for the OLE and that is the reason it turned blue (thanks to fonix232 and Phonix Silver for their help) basically reinstall the following through clockword: OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08-update-stock-blade-unsigned to card and back to normal and hopefully someone will tell us which is a safe steady rom for TFT Hope this is of some help, as their is plenty on the great forum Edited December 13, 2010 by WindyMiller
