Got my son one of these phones yesterday and he is asking me if he can use any of his mp3 files for sms tone. I have looked though the options and just cant see it.

Is it possible guys?

Create a folder in the root of your sd card called 'notifications' and put the mp3 in there. ;)

Put the mp3 file at /sdcard/media/audio/notifications/ and later choose that file as the notification tone in Sound Settings.

You don't have to actually be this strict with your folders. As the first reply says - a notifications folder on the root of the sd card (and probably anywhere!) is fine. Android is weird. ;)

indeed that worksandroid is very weird,

I got one trackname_call and one trackname_sms

in the ringtones folder it gets added as trackname_call when you set the file as ringtone (from any folder)

and in the notifierlist it gets added as sms (using this method)

my phonebook does it too, names are displayed as pers, instead of name pers, which is very annoying,

anyone know why that is?

thanks for this method
