Guest friedgoldmole Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Has anyone used headphones yet? It seems to me that the volume level goes far too high, if you were using the speakers at full volume then plugged in headphones you could damage your headphones or worse your hearing. Or is this just mine? I imagine this can be fixed in software.
Guest warriorscot Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I haven't had this problem. If anything they are too quiet at full volume for me.

Guest TylerDurdenK Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I haven't noticed that they are too loud, or quiet, but the quality is pretty bad, and sounds distorted even at low volumes. The sound via HDMI is pretty decent though.
Guest English Haze Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Yes, I notice the same thing with mine. Headphones are very loud compared to speaker volume at low setting.
Guest warriorscot Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 The headphones themselves will make a difference. Just like the physical output of the speakers is quite low some headphones are quite high. Recently its actually quite hard to get headphones or small speakers with decent output volume due to EU noise regulations.
Guest obb Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Yeah that does to be a bit of an issue ... i must admit the audio quality is a bit shriling .. vega needs dolby really .. it helps having an eq Edited December 5, 2010 by obb
Guest warriorscot Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 There is definately a notable difference in audio quality on some players. Dolby getting onboard with android would be great AC3, DTS support and dolby surround would be great for the vega and other tablets. Apparently google is redoing the multimedia components of android so we should see some improvements eventually at least on headphones and external speakers. The built in ones are always going to be naff but I almost always turn them off or use headphones after all nobody wants to listen to other peoples music or games so its just polite.
Guest Genieuk Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I'm using in-ear creative isolating headphones, and I have to put the volume down to the minimum in a quiet room, or a notch up on that when on a noisy tube. Any more and its tooo loud.

On my acer liquid i have dolby already ... so i think its just a matter of shoehorning into the vega really

Yeah, I was just imaging the situation where you are watching something on youtube at full volume with the speakers, then decide to pop your headphones in, with the volume levels my vega outputs I don't think my ears would be very happy.
Guest drdexter Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 is anyone else getting a louder noise level/hiss in their left ear than the right? its only really noticeable when no sound is playing its worrying its more dominant in one ear.

Nope, not hearing the hiss. Did you try another headset? How about using a music player with an equalizer - Astro Player for example - to reduce the hiss? Edited December 10, 2010 by lnux9898

Guest coolbomb Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 I have a different experience... I'm using Sennheiser HD212pro and I had to put the volume all the way up to be able to hear anything :)

Hi, I have the same hissing problem from left speaker (no headphones) when no sound is playing and when audio vol is set anywhere from 0 to full. Seems intermittant , usually starts when powered up and goes away after 10-15 mins. Thinking its a h/w issue and will be looking to get it returned for repair. Anyone else having this issue? cheers
