Guest orangephone Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I can't find the old thread (removed?) but I am posting phones to Europe. What's the best and most secure way to do so, with tracking possibly? I read Royal Mail is not all that for things worth over £41. What are the other options?

Guest Flumpster Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) I've already checked this because I have to send 2 to Holland. Royal Mail does do more than the £41 insurance it just costs slightly more to go up to the £500 bracket. I used the online calculator and said 1.2kg to be safe with both phones and it worked out at £11.85 for international signed package with the £41 insurance and £14.35 with the £500 insurance. The calculator is Here. Once you've put in your weight and country and it brings up prices on next page you change the insurance at the bottom right of page for new price. Guest orangephone Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I am checking parcel2go and will visit the post office tomorrow hopefully. Flumpster, which one did you end up going with when you posted. Actually just reread your post. I suppose ypu haven't sent them yet.

I have used Parcels Please to send two iPhone 4's to Germany. More specifically: DPD European Parcels-Germany by Road Loss/Damage Cover - Additional cover up to £1,000.00 value for an additional £15.00 The service did not exclude insurance cover for mobile phones at the time when I've send the mobiles but please check carefully by yourself as they may change the T&C.
Guest UncleFista Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Be careful, I know Royal Mail specifically exclude insurance cover for cash, jewellry and mobile phones. I'd ask them if a mobile would definitely be covered..
Guest orangephone Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Is Interparcel reliable? I took a look at Interparcels and found the following: Express Services Interparcel Standard £20.00 + VAT Fedex Priority £35.30 + VAT DHL EU Express £35.65 + VAT Interparcel Express £37.00 + VAT Standard Services DHL Europlus £16.00 + VAT DPD Classic £18.00 + VAT Fedex Economy £20.50 + VAT Interparcel Express Saver £35.00 + VAT What would be a good option from above? I only asked for £15 for postage.

Ive had stuff going to .nl vanish for weeks and then arrive - bugger all tracking info. SC

We had to send a single phone 2 weeks ago which tracks until the UK and then you have nothing until signed delivery.. It does state this tho on the calculator page and the device arrived 2 days after last tracked in UK. Edited December 5, 2010 by Flumpster
Guest orangephone Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I think I will go ahead with Royal Mail. As long as I get the signature. The other options seem way to expensive.

When I've ordered stuff from the UK I can only use Royal Mail's tracking until it's sent over to Sweden. From then I have to check Posten.se to track it. Not too bad since I can still track it, but you'd think they would cooperate somehow to make it easier for people to see where their stuff are. Edited December 5, 2010 by Samehere
Guest orangephone Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Update: Went to the post office to try Airsure and they asked "it isn't a mobile phone is it?" I suppose that means they don't allow mobile phones to be sent in this way? It is fully trackable even within Europe. But can they check what is inside if I sent it like that?
