Does Bluetooth actually work on the Vega?

I have asked this question in one of the main threads but didn't get a response, so sorry for starting a new thread..

I, like others I think, have managed to get the Vega to pair successfully with the Vega but not actually get it to use the device - for instance, I assumed I could use my BT GPS unit with the Vega but Google maps etc doesn't seem to see it.

It may be my lack of knowledge about Android or even BT, but I just expected it to work after successful pairing.

Has anyone got it to work and have any tips?...

Hi there , enabling pairing with your gps is not enough you also need a app called bluetooth gps provider.

So pair your gps then run the above it runs in the taskbar once set up. This will then allow g maps and navigon to see the gps .

Many thanks for that - i did the above but got the message "GPS problem" when i selected start - perhaps my bt gps unit is not compatable?

There are quite a few settings in the program , like chipset of gps , protocol et etc. have a fiddle,

You must have a lock on the satellites with the gps and that can take some time on the initial setup.

I really do appreciate your response - each time it gives me new encouragement!

My device is quite old a HI-406BT

I went into the settings and made sure it was selecting the sirf chipset but it still doesn't work - i guess I'd better play with some of the other settings but dont know what they mean let alone what they do!

Each time i try and connect i get the bluetooth gps started message in the toolbar followed by "gps problem"

The gps unit itself does still work with a pocket pc

Yes, on another thread it was recommended and I got one ages ago and it is fabulous!

Urmm begs the question if the new one works OK why are you trying to connect to the old HI-406BT one?

I'm NOT!

This is an old thread that is redundant since I got the £5 eBay wonder - I was just answering smccrirr because he suggested something I had already done.
