What do I need to know for a TFT Blade?

I will be picking up a San Francisco / ZTE Blade for the girlfriend in the next few days. From what I am reading it is most likely to come with a TFT screen instead of AMOLED.

Is there anything I need to know with regards to installing custom roms etc or is it the same as the AMOLED version? My brother and dad both have a Blade and I have rooted and flashed custom roms but wasnt sure if the TFT will be different

At the moment it seems to be very hit and miss with installing custom roms for the TFT models, I've not found one that works yet ;)

that seems to be what I am reading at the moment so not looking good as ideally I would like to debrand it before giving it to her

[ROM][eclair] Customised BladeVillain 1.1.0 RLS2 (3/Dec) works on my white TFT Blade

you can debrand it pretty much without flashing, what i have done atm.

I was just reading that thread, thanks for the confirmation!

Do I flash it in the same way as I have the others, superboot and clockwork ?

Don't do superboot, just install clockwork and then wipe everything a flash the rom

Ok, cool. Now to decide between the custom rom or just debranding as per Digitalize's suggestion

Hi,

I am also thinking of getting a Blade through a friend in UK and have the following questions which I believe is relevant to this thread.

1) Can I assume that whatever that is ordered online now will likely be a TFT? If yes, I will rather get a white one.

2) Can the TFT Blades be unlocked from Orange and used with overseas Telcos just like the OLED blades? (I am from Singapore)

3) Is there a safe Froyo build for the UK Orange TFT blades?

Hi, I am fairly certain of these, but could well be wrong.

1 - Yup, It would seem that way. Some of the Orange shops may have the OLED still in stock (depending on their individual demand)

2 - Again Yes, the unlock process is a SIM unlock, and has nothing to do with the screen.

3 - Dunno, there seems to only be one Froyo build worth bothering with at the moment, ask in there - MoDaCo Froyo Alpha

On a side note it is good to see that there is at least 1 Eclair build that will work, will hopefully be ordering my Blade this week. One quicky, sort of on topic, is there a way to replace the browser and email app (which charges you ;) ) without installing a ROM?

Use the old version of Clockwork. No need Superboot.

And read my post here http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&amp...t&p=1503108
