I've found a way to easily reproduce the bug where the wifi gets itself into a disconnected state with your network listed as "Connection unsuccessful -- touch to retry" (with Android seemingly unwilling to bother to do that simple retry step itself...).

  1. Install a plain ROM without lots of apps and none of the 'wifi fixing' apps (I've tested this with the latest Orange ROM and it fails ;)).
  2. Setup a wifi connection (and probably disable 3G data connection).
  3. Use phone's power button to put it to sleep.
  4. Leave it for a long time to go fully asleep (I left it for an hour, but 30mins might be enough).
  5. Wake up phone using power button, unlock, wait for wifi connection -- this ought to connect fine.
  6. Install Wordfeud, run it, login or create new account, go to settings and turn on notifications.
  7. Quit back to home screen then use phone's power button to put it to sleep.
  8. Leave it for a long time again to go fully asleep.
  9. Wake up phone using power button, unlock , wait for wifi connection... for me this fails and in the wifi settings you can see the "Connection unsuccessful" message for your network.
If this isn't reproducible for those with cool debugging skills then I'm willing to do whatever is advised to try to narrow this down. What tools are out there that might shed some light on us?
