Flashing question ? Signal problem

Hi everyone,

I have an omnia i900 version:

PDA: i900XXHJ4/MRHJ3

PHONE: i900XXHI5

Problem(for a while now): rarely the phone looses signal when moving, which has never happened in 2 years of using the omnia. Could this be software related and is it safe to flash with a custom ROM given the version details ?

Any help would be apreciated, thanks
