Guest fradleyp Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 hello, i am wondering if there will be any possibility of 2.3 for the san fran? we haven't had a proper 2.2 yet
Guest olionair Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 we haven't had a proper 2.2 yet i am aware of that but i am just wondering the possibility
Guest admanirv Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I say so, but not anytime soon. It wont be officially released for the SF IMO.
Guest Quicklite Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Given that 2.2 wouldn't be supported offically, I highly doubt 2.3 would. Currently running 2.1 atm - won't be long until someone puts 2.3 on SF I hope. ;)
Guest fonix232 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I say so, but not anytime soon. It wont be officially released for the SF IMO. Why not? The Gingerbread (2.3) is a simple minor patch-set, major enough to get an own build number (and not just another sub-version, like 2.2.1), with the new GUI update. I would like to see more likely a 2.3 before Froyo ;) as it has more performance and power management update, also native audio, video, and 3D stuff (what means native games are coming soon).
Guest oh!dougal Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 What Quadrant score does it give? Is Angry Birds better? Does it support AppsToSD? Does it fix wifi/notification led/power key/the funny colours on my screen/battery life? Can I install it without altering anything on my phone? Where is the download link on that page? /takes deep breath, tries to relax ...

Guest olionair Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 2.3 FOR SAN FRAN. WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD IT!?!?!?!?!? at the minute it is only for the nexus one and the SDK. But you could port the SDK version but it would be upside down ;)

Hope it fixes the LED, lol! edit2: Will it void my warrenty, hyrry up with the download!!! I forgot "Will the VOIP stuff work on T-Mobile?" And the perennial favourite - "I've just installed this and my internet won't work. I am on 02."
Guest buneech Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Ooooh my god, 2.3 FOR SAN FRAN. Does it have the stock lock screen? Does course location work? How's the low latency audio? Where is it, where is it, where is it?

Guest Nedjo Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 There's no technical obstacles in having Gingerbread on SanFran! But there's question of economical viability from the manufacturers perspective! If only ZTE and Orange could begin to comprehend how important investment in brand and user's loyalty is proper support in terms of OS updates! Yeah it takes time to calculate that kind of ROI, but this isn't marketfield for short-runners!
Guest fonix232 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 For the feeling, I've already began making a theme based merely on the 2.3 SDK firmware ;)
Guest Rem1x Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 YES IT IS GINGERBREAD, AND NO I'M NOT RELEASING IT, BECAUSE I NOM NOM NOMED IT ALL.
Guest rayraven Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 ^Nice quick theme port, didnt think it would be done so quick. Kudos!

Guest rayraven Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 ^sure fooled me ;) On the other hand: That's 2.3 on Kernel 2.6.29? Wonder if it would possible to port it to blade using the 2.1 sources?

Guest fonix232 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 But... but... it was said Ginger is built upon .35!!!! LIARS! LIARS GOOGLE!
Guest Tom G Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 It looks surprisingly easy to get running on devices. I just booted it on the Pulse on my first attempt with no problems. Probably won't have time to play with the blade until after work.

Guest Frankish Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 If anyone can do this Tom G can :P Hope you get time to have a proper go at it. I don't mind a few bugs ;)
