Caller ID Name Display

Just noticed something weird when receiving a call from someone not on my contacts list. When I received the call the caller ID displayed both the number and the caller's name. Afterward, when I went into the phone app, at the top of the call log was displayed the caller's name. However, after about a second the name disappeared and was replaced with the number and there was no way to get the name back. For some reason it's throwing away the name information after the fact.

I'm running LCR 1.2.2 with the Acer dialer on a Liquid E.

Anyone know why it's doing this and if there's a way to prevent it from throwing away the name? Is this an Android thing or an Acer dialer thing? Does the AOSP dialer behave any better?

Thanks!

I know that the acer leaks also do this, I was hoping all of the fixes would get rolled into cyanogenmod and we'd have them soon via xian or roggin. Also getting rid of the crappy acer phone application with the hold button RIGHT where my ear is would be really nice too.

It's a network feature. It's called name display or something by Rogers. I have it too. The name only stays in the call log for a few moments.

But this doesn't explain why the name would show up then disappear. The fact it shows up at all suggests the phone log app supports name display, yet it throws it away. Seems like a bug to me.

Happens to all my previous phones as well so it's not an Android thing.

My old rogers blackberry used to do the name callerID too, but it didn't lose the name when you went into the missed calls list.
