Guest dyfaldonc Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Hi, I’ve been struggling to remove the simlock on an HTC Desire that was locked and branded by Tmobile (UK). The unlock code that I bought was accepted by the phone but there was no second request (I believe that the desire should ask twice for the unlock code). Since then I’ve had no network unless a tmobile sim is inserted. The phone hasn't asked for the code again. Things I’ve tried: DEBRANDING: I made a goldcard and flashed a stock froyo ROM as it was suggested that this process would remove the simlock as long as I remoed my sim during it. (http://www.broadbandgenie.co.uk/blog/20100822-how-debrand-htc-desire-update-froy) ROUTING I’ve routed (Unrevoked3) and flashed a custom ROM (Leedroid 2.2f) S-OFF I’ve achieved S-off (AlphaRev) (but not Radio S-OFF, SuperCID and SimUnlock) Everything went to plan, but still no network! I’m not unique in experiencing this problem with a tmobile branded HTC Android phone. There seems to be a fix for the Dezire Z/G2/DHD (easy full Root, S-OFF, SuperCID AND SIM UNLOCK) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857390 using Gfree This fix for the Desire HD: One click Radio S-OFF, SuperCID, SimUnlock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537) But nothing for the Desire! HELP!! I’m exhausted and have run out of ideas. Bootloader: ----AlphaRev------- BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S -ON HBOOT -0.93.0001 MICROP -051a TOUCH PANEL -SYNT0101 RADIO -5.11.05.27 Aug 10 2010 17:52:18 Any advice would be most gratefully received!
Guest tusabe Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 Hi! Did you get some news about it? I'm in the same situation... :) Thanks!
Guest kiezel Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I also have that problem, I've been googling for days and now my head is a bout to pop! Sick and tired of this T-Mobile scam. The worst part is Modaco is sponsoring a website wich so called unlocks your simcard, but that's all a scam too. I'm deeply dissapointed.

Guest SgtDavePwnage Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 OK.... First things first DEBRANDING: Allows installation of stock HTC roms and has NOTHING to do with simlocks ROOTING: Gains Root access and allows installation of custom software amongst other things, and has NOTHING to do with simlocks S-OFF: Disables the bootloaders security, and has NOTHING to do with simlocks. Looking at your post, you have not yet achieved s-off correctly. If you had s-off the line would read BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S -OFF instead of BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S -ON id recommend trying this again. As for the sim unlock I recommend contacting whomever you purchased the unlock code from and take up the issue with them as none of the above will have any effect on simlock status
Guest Ro Alex Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I would not put much trust on any of this "codes" you can buy, if you want your Desire SIM unlocked start looking for a GSM service around you, cause in most cases this is only doable by Box or JTAG.

HTC Desire phones can be easily unlocked via code so you're wrong in this case. But he should ask the provider of the code for support or a refund. Edited January 8, 2011 by bpivk

That's not true, no Rev B Desire will be unlocked with a code and asking providers may not be a option as they will charge you money, they do it here, 60 Euro/up to 2 weeks wait for something that a service can do in 30 mins for much less.

It should say somewhere on the Box of the phone, or you can make a guess by the date you got it, it seams phones after May of 2010 are Rev B and the reason why codes don't work is HTC which sended the wrong ones out there so only way to find it is to read it on the device itself. Who thinks im dreaming can simply google, you will find an amazing number of posts about how good this codes are, its not just the case of the HTC Desire, sure if your provider give you the unlock for free its great, but where i come from that's really not an option, till recently they didn't even HAD to actually give you the unlock code. p.s. also S-OFF and root has nothing to do with the SIM Lock. I would do a search before buying from any of this sites, for instance check out the seller on here or other such sites. Edited January 8, 2011 by Ro Alex
