Anyone using any such sollution with the blade? I've read about numerous ones that werent compatible with the htc desire unknown reasons, so would be nice to hear some peoples experiences.

This one looks like a good sollution to have on the go: http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-Dual-por...8179&sr=8-4

It seems to have one 0.5A and one 1.0A output, if I'm not mistaken the Blade can be loaded at a max of 0.7A, would this still work? ie. either at 0.5A it would just load slower or the 1.0A port would simply only put through 0.7A as the device cant be loaded any higher? I read a thread about the dell streak and portable packs like these and it seemed like it Required the charger to be able to put through at least 1.0A or it wouldnt work.

New Trent Dual-port Pack IMP50D 5000mAh External Battery pack

It IS a battery, the only one it "needs" is one to charge

anyone got any experiences with Blade and new trent battery packs or similar?

i load my SF here in germany with an original htc adapter from my old htc diamond.

it has an output with 1A and i had no problems so far.

maybe it helps to know it works with 1A...

I got myself one of these 5000mA batteries from Amazon

Have only used it a couple of times but it does what it says on the tin - similar kind of animal to that New Trent one - just a little heavier

Nice and compact and £22 - all good

There's another thread on here from a while ago talking about exactly this topic (could have searched first ho hum) - one poster recommended Power Monkeys, also on Amazon

Thanks for the replies. I actually did search before, and the only thread i found was one which topic was about battery life in general where the New trent battery pack were mentioned but it was never confirmed that it was working other than its a universal micro usb charger so it "should" work. Since I've read about some not working with desire... and I think also there were some microsd cards (kingston) not working with the Blade (that "should" be working). Apologies if there is a thread exactly like this though, I couldnt find it anyway. And better safe than sorry. ;)

Anyone have experience with the Blade and that New Trent IMP50D model in particular?

Does this item really work i.e do the job as it says on tin?

I tried to use a similar device to the cheapo Maplin one at Glastonbury this year to try and recharge my TouchHD. Not much success to report, I'm afraid - the charger and phone became very hot (although it was sweltering outside) and, as I recall, I only managed to recharge the battery about 20% or so.

I've got a Powermonkey Classic (2200mAh, I believe) and confirm that this is capable of charging a decent-sized Li-ion phone battery without similar problems. I'd imagine the Trent device from this thread would work well, too.

It says no AC charger included, so how are you supposed to charge this battery pack, Using any standard USB Cable?

Hmm. The Tecknet looks exactly the same as the dual port New Trent model. Compare the LEDs and square button on the top of the case.

The Tecknet is also 3 quid cheaper.

There is a Emergency charger available from Maplin that uses a single AA battery. You could put a 2500Ma rechargeable battery in it.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=222899

I got one of these off ebay for £1, stuck a 2500mah battery in it and sadly only got about 10% extra charge from it, useless! Pretty shocking really when people seem to be getting at lease a full charge from other chargers rated at 2200mah. Anyone know how a 2200mah battery can provide 5 times more charge than a 2500mah one? Confused! ;)

Voltage. 2500 mAh NiMH (AA rechargeable) battery has a nominal voltage of 1.2V, so it contains 2.5*1.2 = 3 Watt-hours of energy. Li-ion batteries used in the charger packs have a voltage of 3.7V, so even if the electric charge is "only" 2200mAh, the energy capacity is 8.14Wh, almost three times more - assuming the pack doesn't have two cells in series, in which case the difference would be doubled.

And the phone expects 5V input, so if the battery back output is lower than you need a DC-DC upconverter which isn't a hundred percent efficient.

I would think so.

That's right - you get a bunch of cables with it so you can plug it into your pcs usb or into the charger with your blade

You get a little bag of connector plugs for pretty much every phone, except, oddly a nokia (much to wife's consternation)
