Guest eFfeM Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 It has happened a few times to me that in the morning my SF is completely dead due to the battery being empty. Until recently I thought I did not finish an app (read: probably angry birds) which would keep running and drain the battery. However the same happened last night and (in order to avoid it), I took care on killing all apps (with advanced task killer) in the evening (battery was at about 50% at that time). This morning again; empty battery. Anyone an idea what is happening and/or how to prevent this. My phone is rooted and uses the French Fries V rom. Wifi was probably on as I was at home. I use Y5 which will normally disable wifi (and Y5 is not killed by advanced task killer). I'm open for any suggestion (including going to a different rom or app or freshly reinstalling the system) as this is getting quite irritating. Thanks alot for any suggestions. Frans (from NL so apologize my bad English).
Guest Flumpster Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 When the phone screen goes to sleep make sure you can't power it back on by using the 3 front buttons. If you can still bring the lock screen back on with these buttons after 30 seconds then the screen is not going to sleep. Something is keeping it awake and in my testing if the screen is awake it drained at least 10 percent battery an hour for me even when not in use.
Guest RossJ84 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I had a similar thing, the battery was running down ridiculously fast even though no apps were running. If you are charging from the AC adapter, try using a USB port instead. This makes a huge difference for me, I've gone from 8 hours of life via AC to over 4 days and counting from a USB charge. See my thread below for more details: Battery life observations
Guest eFfeM Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Flumpster, thanks for the suggestion. Will definitely peek into that. See my thread below for more details: Battery life observations Thanks will read that. I always charge from USB. I live in NL so the UK power plug was not too useful (got my SF while visiting the UK). Charging *with* USB does take 6 hrs or so for me. Discharge greatly depends on how much I play Angry Birds :-)
Guest Chillimonster Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I traced my excessive battery usage to the Extended controls Widget. Uninstalled it and back to normal battery consumption.
Guest jennie81 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I always switch to airplane mode at night. You can come back to it in the morning without it losing any power at all! I think this also shuts down wi-fi and data anyways) Try and see what results you get! Edited December 7, 2010 by jennie81
