Wifi stability on costumized ROMs

Hello,

I'm a noobie around here, so mistake my lack of knowledge.

I would like a clarification on new ROMs support for wifi.

I've investigating around the costumized 2.1 Android ROMs, and concluded, that some only include some widgets like "Fix My Wifi" and "Wifi keep alive" and not actually corrections on the operative system core to fix the wifi stability.

I don't believe there are corrections, as at least for me, some of them only workaround the problem sometimes, not everytime.

If there any costumized ROM for 2.1 that fixes the problem for wifi not going to sleep menu option, for instance? Or do they wake up the wifi correctly?

What about 2.2?
