Guest Conz Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I have the modaco rom installed but when i just looked on my phone it wanted to place a system update from htc.com OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2-2.10.405.2_R_P_release8gn6bgo3rswcw24.zip (my god what a filename ...) Not so sure if this is a good idea to install with the Modaco rom running.. Anyone else seeing this ?

It´s either useless or going to brick your phone, you can´t use HTC´s OTA updates anymore, if you want updates just flash the newest MCR rom, Paul will update if nessesary. I doubt this OTA is Gingerbread though.
Guest EddyOS Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Yeah, it's Gingerbread. The Nexus S and Nexus One don't have it but HTC are releasing it for us special Desire users before anyone else... Seriously, are people that dumb?? It's just a new OTA for the STOCK Desire - you can try flashing it on your rooted phone but you'll likely brick your phone. It's also not new as I've been running it over a month since the RUU was leaked and Paul has already used it in the stock kitchen

But haven´t Nexus just gotten gingerbread? it´s taken HTC what 6-12 months to get froyo onto Desire from it´s release at least wayyy later than any of the custom roms. I don´t count OTAs for anything it´s mostly minor useless bloody fixes. And nothing to be alarmed over once one is rooted and running custom roms.
Guest EddyOS Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) No, the N1 doesn't have G'bread yet - there's a hacked ROM for the Desire over on XDA but half of it doesn't work yet as it's a bodge of the SDK N1 should get it OTA in the next few weeks, we'll get it a few months down the line (if at all) Edited December 7, 2010 by EddyOS
Guest Matrix Mike Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I had a software update on my sim free Desire day before yesterday its now version 2.29.405.2 ;)
Guest EddyOS Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 It's been live for a few days now, people are just getting it now. I've been on it over a month now after using the RUU
Guest Catalin Desire Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 We got the idea, good for you... ;)
Guest ScottR Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) I had a software update on my sim free Desire day before yesterday its now version 2.29.405.2 :) I have an unbranded sim-free HTC Desire currently operating software version 2.10.405.2 but I am aware that software upgrade 2.29.405.2 has been released OTA. My concern is that I have not been notified of this software and checking manually also informs me that my software is up-to-date. Is this something which I should be concerned about, or is it quite normal for not all devices to receive the notification at the same time? Your assistance will be much appreciated. Kind regards Scott Edited December 10, 2010 by ScottR
Guest EddyOS Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 It gets rolled out so you should get it but if you want to do it now go get the OTA file from XDA and manually flash it
