Guest ShakeyB Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Does anybody know how to change the original google account on the san fran? I've read elsewhere that clearing the data of all google related apps, in "manage applications" , including: Google Apps Calendar Gmail Talk would bring up the wizard without having to do a factory reset. I can't get this to work at all- cleared all above including related storage in both manage applications and using ti backup, but still the default account remains! Ta Shake
Guest salazared Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Just go to Settings->Accounts&Sync? I can remove and add accounts from there. You may be referring to an issue that I don't have.

Ah yes , but it comes up with the message " do you really want to remove this account ? removing it will also delete all of its messages , contacts and other data from the phone . proceed ?" will this wipe out all my phone contacts , sms messages and apps i have installed.....i'd like to change my googlemail account , but am a tad worried i'm going to wipe all the data on my phone !!!1
Guest Flumpster Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I'd be very surprised if it will even let you delete that account. I've not tried in 2.2 but every time I've tried to delete the default gmail account it wont let you if you hit yes anyway.
Guest ShakeyB Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Yes that is the first popup, then when I click on "remove account" a new popup says: "This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy." So it's basically saying I have to do a factory reset.
Guest IronDoc Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Can't you add another account first, then delete the default one. Or have you tried that?
Guest ShakeyB Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 hmm I've been trying this with no success so far... "Your phone needs to communicate with Google servers to set up your account. This may take up to five minutes" then "you don't have a network connection" tried on both wifi and 3g that work on the other san fran confused :S ;) Can't you add another account first, then delete the default one. Or have you tried that?
