Screen brightness

I find the minimum brightness to still be to bright. I can't believe they would make the minimum so high, especially considering the battery drain of these screens. I've tried a few apps that would supposedly lower brightness past default, but none of them worked. Have any of you done this on the Liquid?

Thanks.

I use extended controls to adjust brightness, and I'm able to lower mine to a respectable 2%

Really? When I tried extended controls, I could only increase brightness in 20% increments, then back to 0%. Which is actually 10 on androids backlight scale. The scale is 0-255, but you can't go below 10. Whatever app I use has the same minimum. as default minimum. I know in linux you can control lcd brightness in command line. I'm hoping to find that type of solution. So far no luck.

Strange that it didn't work for you. In Extends Controls, I've set my brightness as follows:

Brightness > Settings > Custom Brightness > Brightness Step > 5 Steps

I've enabled "Show Percentage", "Show Dialogue", and "Auto Brightness"

When I cycle through the brightness button I get:

2% > 20% > 40% > 60% > 80% > 100% > Auto

(oddly enough, that is actually 6 steps, excluding auto, but nonetheless, it does go to 2%)

I just tested with 4 steps and also 6 steps and in both cases, the lowest brightness was 2% each time.

I know what you're saying. I've used extended controls to go to 0%. Here's the thing, and it's not only our devices. Android has put a limit on how low you can drop screen brightness. The scale they use is not percentages, it is a value between 0 - 255. The lowest most people are able to go is 10 on that scale, which shows on any app that controls brightness as 0%. The people who have been able to go below 10 on that scale are the people who have hacked their devices. I'm sure the reason google doesn't want you to have full control over the brightness is because some people would completely turn off the backlight, making their device unusable.
