Hi guys, i've spent alot of time on the forums reading through threads but i'm still struggling to get my head round the 'rooting' and 'custom rom' side of things........

I've just unlocked (all by myself!!) an OLED SF and have got a Virgin Sim in with the appropriate APN settings and i'm impressed with the phone - coming from a Samsung J700 this thing seems heaven sent ;)

Anyway, i've got LauncherPro and am using that but i'd like to completely get rid of the 'Orange tinge' the phone has - notably the boot up screen, also i'm unable to download apps to my SD card -- seems like 2.1 doesn't support this but 2.2 does? Obviously the phones memory will fill up real quick compared to a 16gig SD card!

So my question is this - do i do the following things in this order to allow me to fix my two issues above and give me greater access to the phones working - thus giving me a more customizable phone?;

1) Download some type of back up - Titanium?

2) Root the phone

3) Partition my memory card

4) Install a custom ROM

Any help would be greatly appreciated in these matters - i've clicked on plenty of links to give me a rough idea but my head is still spinning, i'm bloody determined to have a go though ;D

I would suggest you root the phone then install a custom rom like the MoDaCo 2.1 rom but you will have to reinstall your apps so make sure you have a backup of everything important.

Sounds good to me - would that rid me of the 'orange boot up screen' and allow me to download apps to the SD card directly though - or would i need a different custom rom other than the MoDaCo 2.1?

Thankyou for the advice in backing up all my download's so far - not the sort of thing i would have thought to do ;)

I would go,

1 Backup apps with Titanium, free or paid

2 Go adfree so you have access to kitchens

3 Root SF

4 Bake yourself a 2.2 Froyo rom with apps2sd+ here

http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...d-chinese-leak/

5 Sit back in android smugness.

I've downloaded the Titanium app and the 'BusyBox' add on but when i try to open the app up it gives me the following message constantly - even after checking for updates and redownloading the 'BusyBox' add on numerous times;

"Error - Sorry, i could not aquire root priviliges. Thsi application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again"

Been running in circles for 10 minutes/ rebooting phone (inc battery removal) but can't get past this!!

Some help would be more than welcome, thanks guys ;)
