Guest umair9001 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) i just wanted some gingerbread look on my liquid so i prepared this framework-res.apk just push to /system/framwork/ folder and reboot. Ported from this release Gingerbread Theme for CM 6.1 adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/ you will require root access for this as well as your adb mounted with read write access for the rw access adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system [/codebox] I only replaced the image files, animations and color. Try it out. How i made the apk file, well just open it with winzip/winrar and replace the files.. ;) framework_res.rar Edited December 8, 2010 by umair9001

Guest Edward.W Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 only based on 4.002.14 (as umair9001 said)..i didn't test it, i just placed it in signed .zip) Will there have any possibility to use it on the Liquid Metal ROM? ;)
Guest studjuice Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 This probably won't work on any other roms, if what I'm right the framework files don't like getting mixed. But if you made a metamorph of it, that should work on any rom. Surprised I haven't seen any gingerbread metamorph themes yet...
Guest umair9001 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Would this work on any rom? Take a backup of your current framework-res.apk and then try pushing this from adb. If the phone doesn't boot, u can still restore it through adb as it gets recognized on the startup screen. Thats how i was trying to do things in a trial and error basis.
Guest studjuice Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 i made a metamorph for my G1 (works on any mdpi devices) this morning, I will make a metamorph of this for you guys when I get out of class, if that's okay with you umair?
Guest passa Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Sorry, what's the difference between this zip file and the app on market by modaco? I've to use both methods?

Guest studjuice Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) no issues for me..it aint my work,I just tried porting it.. :P Thanks ;) Well it's ready to be tested Warning: it's very easy that there could be problems or that this could not work. If so, these would be problems caused in your framework-res.apk file which would cause your phone to not boot, therefore BACKUP FIRST. Do not try this unless you consider yourself fully competent in your device... If you have weird problems: I need detailed feed back as to the steps you have taken to try and install it, multiple methods that you tried, what you think the problem is, and logs (try to keep the logs as short as you can, isolate the problem for me please). Procedure: 1 you need to get MetaMorph from the Market 2 for metamorph to work, you need: 1) Root access, 2) a ROM that has busybox included (if busybox is not included, you can use Titanium Backup to get busybox), 3) need enough space on /system for MetaMorph to make changes (usually isn't a problem) 3 After you install MetaMorph, and run it once, connect your phone to your computer and put the downloade Gingerbread.zip file into the "AndroidThemes" folder which should be on the root of your sd card (if not, make a folder for it) 4 (option 1) extract the .zip while you are still connected to your computer. 4 (option 2) disconnect from computer, run metamorph: start checks, unzip/extract new theme, select Gingerbread.zip. Here's the download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?pd9copdtdpcz2ot for testing purposes, i ask those who apply this theme in metamorph to try using Apply All, and to individually apply certain aspects if Apply All does not work also to those who test this, specify that you are testing this metamorph and not umair's framework-res.apk. thanks If you find something interesting or important and want to get it to me asap, send me a direct message on twitter Credit: goes to Krispy's metamorph for the Hero Edited December 8, 2010 by studjuice

Guest bais Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I love that Gingerbread look, it's clean like everything Google does, the pure black use fits prefectly the Liquid (White or pure black) and I think the status bar looks nice + the Dialing screen looks nice ;)
Guest Rufy93 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Tried with the apk earlier, didn't work. Tried the metamorph now. Damn! I'm in love with this gui!! Thanks studjuice!! ;)
Guest passa Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Ok. I've understood the difference (it was so easy...) The zip makes your liquid get gingerbread interface (very nice as my opinion!!!). The market app give you gingerbread launcher home, that is very similar to the Froyo one. I've delete it because i prefer Launcher Pro. Edited December 8, 2010 by passa

Guest sexbob Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 really amazing theme. just two or three options that need a fix in my opinion. for example, the color of the clock and the date in the status bar. and for example, when you receive an sms, the letters are black too and you ardly can read it in the status bar. if you can pute a green color in the clock and the sms notifications like the battery or somethig it will be cool. or just tell me how to do it. thanks for the amazing job.

That's the reason I said this is for CyanogenMod ROM's, because in CyanogenMod you can change the text colors through Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> User Interface. It's possible I could change the text colors with metamorph (I think so, have never done it yet) if you want to look it up and do it manually yourself in the meantime, it's done by editing services.jar in the /system/framework folder. You can follow this link and hopefully it won't be too difficult for you. After looking it up, there is good news and bad news. + it would be possible to change the text color in the metamorph - it's only possible by replacing the entire services.jar, meaning it would only work for the specific rom that I take the original services.jar from. and that ruins the whole reason I made a metamorph, which was to make this theme available for all froyo ROM's. EDIT: so I never said this was for CyanogenMod ROM's in the post, but I specified it in the metamorph(if you paid attention to what it said lol). If you want to easily change your text color use any cm6 rom. Edited December 8, 2010 by studjuice
