My Blade is running MoDaCo r3 at present (haven't got round to updating!) and I'm experiencing a problem when on the phone, the person on the other end complains of loud static. This seems to happen on any level of call volume. I figured it was because I had the volume on maximum but the problem remained even when it was on minimum...

Has anyone else had this problem? I did suspect interference from my wireless router but it's happened when I've been out as well. And it's not just 1 person complaining of the static so it's not their phone which is the problem, sadly ;)

Any ideas, guys?

Bump - anyone? I've also had people tell me the line cuts out briefly. Haven't heard these problems for myself.. just going by what people are telling me..

I'm not sure... I've never made any calls using a headset and probably never will.

I'm thinking it could be something wrong with the mic/speaker...

I expect you haven't seen pages 21 and 22 of the manual, explaining not to hold the phone with your fingers so close to the antenna ... it does make a significant difference to call quality.

Either that, or you have a faulty phone.

perhaps you could try :

backup actual sytem

restore original stock rom or put a different custom rom.

to see if the problem comes from the rom or the phone (i have read another post here where user has problems of bad signal with r3)

just a 2 euros idea :)

P.S. : personally with G2 rom r3 no problem calls are clears.

I guess that could be it. I had no idea the Blade suffered from the "your holding it wrong" problem like the iPhone. I don't have the manual to hand - could anyone please paraphrase what it says regarding this issue in the manual?

I think trying a new ROM would be a sensible idea. Just looking around to see which one is best as a lot has happened since the r3 release of the 2.1 MoDaCo ROM!

Thanks for your replies so far everyone, much appreciated :)

Flashed to seb404's r6 ROM and the problem remains :)

Even when I'm not holding the phone (and lay it on the table) the static still remains so I guess that rules out the way I'm holding it.
