SPV Memory Allocation

The spv is not good with memory right? that's why we use the taskmanager program to free it up. It struck me while checking my available memory today, there is nealy 2MB set aside for app instalation. This memory never gets used on my phone, most of us now have a large sd card and install everything there to keep the phone's memory free and to hopefully improve performance. Is this memory physically seperate from the phone's main memory? or has it just been allocated in software?. If the latter is true then maybe the programmers/coders amoungst us can have a good look to see if this memory can be ' given back ' to the main memory. After reboot my phone has 7.6mb of free memory, 9.6 mb would improve performance wouldn't it?

Hopefully

Reply to self, before someone says some programs need to be installed to the phone, i.e. how can GPRS work if the card was not in, well, how many people actually remove their card? I never take mine out. Also, if this could be sorted by a little program, or reg tweak or similiar, maybe you could set how much to ' give back '.

Also if you ever change your card ie get a bigger one just copy all details

over so your apps and everything else will still work as normal.

Nice idea Kevlar

Any of our programmers (MBoden?) like to comment on the likelyness of this being possible?

I would think that it would be very unlikely. Programs get installed in flash RAM which is slow and has a limited number of read/write cycles. Programs run in (SD?)RAM which operates quickly and has a very large- infinite number of read/write cycles possible.
