Guest Frankish Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 If any of you are using the old style a2sd in Pauls Froyo rom you may have noticed some strange sd card behaviour. Your images may not be showing up on your pc (try take a pic and connect to pc...see if it is there?) and then they are after a reboot. You may also be losing full folders of stuff like downloads! What is happening is that when you connect your phone even in charge only mode the full sdcard is mounted including the ext partition and this causes data corruption. I have uploaded a test fix. It is a modified vold.fstab that is set to only mount the fat32 partition when connected to the pc. It ignoring the ext partition. I have just tested and it's working great for me. Flash in recovery.a2sd_corruption_fix.zip
Guest Grexeo Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Thanks Frankish - I was wondering what was causing this problem. Paul, can this fix be added to the kitchen? ;) Edited December 8, 2010 by Grexeo
Guest Al_Jolson Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I just gave this a try but it doesn't appear to have worked. I flashed the zip, rebooted, mounted the SD, copied a bunch of JPGs into the "download" folder, rebooted the phone, and upon checking I find that the "download" folder is empty again. Could this be because I'm using the A2SD+ option as opposed to the standard A2SD? I'm on alpha4 by the way.
Guest Frankish Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 No the sd card is mounted in the same way. Maybe another issue there?
Guest Al_Jolson Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 It's a strange one indeed. I can mount and unmount (dismount?) the SD card without anything being deleted from Downloads. I can shut the phone down and still the files survive. But something happens on boot up. When I look at the Download folder via Windows when mounted I can see the date & time the folder properties were last modified etc. If I reboot the phone while there are files in the Download folder, then the next time I look via Windows it will show a "Created" time of exactly the time of the reboot. If, however, I reboot while the Download folder is empty, no change seems to happen, as the folder properties show the same modified time as before. This seems to suggest that the folder is being overwritten for some reason. Is this consistent with what you've seen Frankish, or does it sound unique? I actually did a full wipe and freshly reapplied alpha4 yesterday to try to clear this, but even before I installed another app this was still happening.
Guest ko0l Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) Hey, I flashed the fix and it looks like the ext partition is still mounted on the comp. I opened minitool partition wizard and it detects the ext partition. In the mcr 2.1 rom it wasn't detected. Is it a problem with the a2sd script? Edited December 9, 2010 by ko0l
