Guest T4ylor Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Come on guys what the heck am I doing wrong? I have transferred an .avi to the SD Card (vegamedia/videos) which plays but no sound. I am not sure I should be transferring music and video on to the Vega so I removed the SD card, put it in the laptop and drag and dropped the file into the Vega media/video file. Is this how I should be doing it? Also to play the film I could not see any icon so I had to go through ifilemager and open from there. Is there another way? I don’t if any of the above is the reason why I have no sound but I thought it might help someone guide me in the right direction Thanks

Guest Pyr0x64 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) does it have ac3 audio? the default player won't play sound for avi's with ac3 audio i'm using rockplayer at the moment Edited December 8, 2010 by Pyr0x64
Guest What If Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Are you using the free version of rockplayer?
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 yeah, just using the free version
Guest T4ylor Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 What does mediainfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en run on the PC) say the video and audio formats are? I have got a screen shot of what is says but how do i post it?
Guest worto03 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 sorry to drag this a bit off topic but does rockplayer play mkv's? The default player plays my mkv files but with no sound - I know that the mkv is just a container but will another player have more luck - I don't want to convert all of my mkv's just for the vega. avi wise (just to post something on topic) the default player plays some of but not others it depends on the codecs. most of them work but some play with no sound or have sound but no video. access wise you should be able to got the gallery where your photo's are and there is a video section in there.
Guest What If Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Yeah I'm having the issues with no sound on avi files but an mp4 plays ok. I have not done a lot of testing but is there a player that will play most file formats???
Guest arad85 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I have got a screen shot of what is says but how do i post it? Just tell us what the video and audio formats are... divx/h264 are video, AC-3, AAC, MP3 are audio
Guest T4ylor Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Silly me i never checked the Gallery. thanks As for the audio is says: 384 Kbps, 48.0 KHz, 16 bits, 6 channels, AC-3
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 there you go then as i mentioned in a previous post, the default player cannot handle ac3 audio try rockplayer (you can find it on the market)
Guest warriorscot Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 As a tip for the future it won't play any of the Dolby audio formats because they aren't free so until the devs pay for them that means no AC3 or DTS audio. Any video that uses a standard open or free audio format usually works from what I have tried so far. You can convert the audio on the videos to something usable by the Vega. Rockplayer in software mode can handle AC3 audio however it has massive sync issues when doing that so its not really a solution. Hopefully rockplayer or one of the other players can get a decent software solution until google or advent pay dolby to use their codecs.
Guest T4ylor Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Ok so ive converted the video to MP4 and the audio to: 165Kbps, 48.0KHz, 2 channels, AAC (Version 4) (LC) but still no sound. Any thoughts?
