desperate for help

I confess to being completely ignorant of how to use the forum, but it's not for want of searching, I've tried honestly.

If I power on normally it just sticks at the green android, likewise when using "on" with "volume up". If I power on with volume down I get android then flash of orange logo then to a screen with FTM in a white rectangle. In all cases none of the keys will function, and the only way to switch off is battery removal.

I've tried various ways to connect via usb, all to no avail.

Please, is there someone out there who can help, it was a xmas present.

Ive now discovered that FTM is "Field Test Mode", which doesn't tell me much and I still cant access phone from pc. I have realised that I can get to the sd card by putting it in another phone, so if any solutions involve the card I am sorted.

I'd still be grateful for any pointers at all.

last chance saloon, I've tried every every idea that I can find on this and other sites, none have achieved anything. Since I have not had any replies to my posts, I assume that the experts think that it's a dead duck.
