Guest godsakes Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Don't know how widely known this is but after a couple of weeks of trying to get divx playback on the SF i've finally found a solution which doesn't involve converting my collection of films - warning this does take a bit of messing about to get setup but well worth it the app you need is "VLC stream and convert" http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applica...nvert_ixgb.html on your PC you'll need VLC player currently 1.1.5 (on windows anyway) 1. after you've installed VLC player - edit the host file remove # from private addresses restart VLC and enable web interface - (View -> Add Interface -> Web Interface) 2. unblock VLC in your firewall settings 3. run the phone App and scan - (Menu -> Connect -> Scan) 4. on the app press the menu button and click on "player mode" - select "stream to phone (rtsp) 5. press the menu button again and go into settings and adjust your "rtsp" settings - the following settings seem to work for me but i'm sure others will find better combos H.264 AVC video rate - 256 frame rate - 24 width - 480 canvas aspect ratio - 15:9 (800:480) AACL LC settings audio bitrate - 64 channels - mono 6. press menu again, click settings, scrow down to find playback settings, set: portrait width to 480 (alternatively set to 'fit screen') landscape width to 800 (alternatively set to 'fit screen') 7. finally browse for a video to stream from your pc using the app the App's dev site is http://traveldevel.com/ you might find more info there on any issues/bugs Edited December 9, 2010 by godsakes
Guest jayhix Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 it works, ive not tried this before however so set up exactly like you said, only thing im experiencing is the resolution of the video doesnt fit the whole of my screen, could be because my screen density is set to 200?
Guest godsakes Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) only thing im experiencing is the resolution of the video doesnt fit the whole of my screen i think it really depends on the aspect ratio of the video you're streaming some of my stuff is a perfect fit others have black bars on top & bottom or on the sides edit added step 6 in the guide for setting screen sizes Edited December 9, 2010 by godsakes

Guest godsakes Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) Any idea whay one of my MP4's wouldn't play the sound? make sure you're not using vlc player 1.1.4 apparanty that has some audio issues - other than that i'm not too sure myself could just be a codec issue Followed the instructions in the OP and Streams perfectly, but none of the videos I've played shows full screen Any way to resolve this? in playback settings set: portrait width to 480 landscape width to 800 (edited OP to with this info now) Edited December 9, 2010 by godsakes
Guest Azurren Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 The VLC hosts file is: \VideoLAN\http\.host If you want to use 3g you will need to port-forward ports 8080 and 5554 (Recommend "No-IP" if you have a dynamic IP (One that keeps changing) to give you a free domain name) Thanks for this!
