Guest jayhix Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Hi guys i knew this was a common issue a while back and dont think i saw that anyone had found a fix for it. I dont have a coded fix for this problem, but there is an app in the market called "wifi keep alive" I've been testing it for a few days now and the settings i believe to work are: always on advanced options - enable workaround 2. I dont know if the code of this app can be used to fix the problems in the roms? but alternatively this works for me and has done so for the last 2 days, also doesnt appear to drain the battery enough to notice, could be worth a few people testing this to confirm? hope this is useful J
Guest Treacles Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 What exactly IS the problem with wifi? :S I've had my SF for 3 days now and i dont see any obvious problems with it
Guest cobhc Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 What exactly IS the problem with wifi? :S I've had my SF for 3 days now and i dont see any obvious problems with it There was and still is a problem where the wireless will disconnect after the phone has been sleeping for a period of time, it sometimes even shows as still being connected, but cannot transfer any data until you disconnect and reconnect. It seems to be router specific, but the Blade Wi-Fi fix in the market fixes it for me and is installed on every rom I put on my SF.
Guest juniperz Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 ... the Blade Wi-Fi fix in the market fixes it for me... Agreed - this was my only annoyance when using stock and MCR a3, and it was a big annoyance. Blade Wifi Fix has worked perfectly for me.
Guest jayhix Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 i did not know about the blade wifi fix app, i guess that makes this topic void now, apologies. thanks again, ill try the blade app aswell

Guest Flumpster Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) jayhix, as long as you are happy with the fix then great but that fix does drain battery a lot because it is keeping the screen alive.. It has been discussed in a lot of other threads. At least 10X faster drain when not in use. edit.. was on phone and by the time I hit send a load of replies came in.. This was answering your first post. Edited December 9, 2010 by Flumpster
Guest Arr Too Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I can seemingly reproduce this bug this at will (from a working state to a non-working state) -- I posted a thread about it. Normally that sort of thing can take you a long way down the path to a (proper) solution, but I've no idea how to do any debugging on Android, and perhaps others aren't that bothered about it because of the existing workarounds (or they can't reproduce it themselves). There's also the suggestion that's been repeated recently that Orange can text you a magic update message if you moan at them about it and that fixes it permanently -- but we've no clear evidence of that (the message or the permanence), and no comment from any members here who work at Orange and might know for sure.
