Guest zigzagindex Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Hi for all those using 3 UK service, I don't know whether you have also experienced this problem. After updating to 2.2 I find that when using mobile data connection the streak normally shows 'H' rather than '3G'. While this is understandable, using android app 'Speed Test', I am upset to find that my download speed is almost always less than upload speed. In most scenarios the download speed is less than 300k while the upload speed is close to 700K in good reception area. The streak used to work like a charm before last update (previous it is in android 1.6). This is a sim-free unlocked UK streak and the 3 customer service is not helpful when discussing this issue. Below is the settings of the Mobile networks: • Network Mode: WCDMA only (it is almost the same to use GSM/WCDMA auto) • Access Point Name: 3 (three.co.uk), 3MMS (three.co.uk) • From ‘Access point’: Name: 3 APN: three.co.uk Proxy: not set Port: not set Username: not set Password: not set Server: http://mobile.three.co.uk MMSC: not set MMS port: not set MCC: 234 MNC: 20 Authentication type: not set APN type: default, supl • Network operators: Select a network operator: Automatic Please let me know how to solve this issue, it is very irritating to see such a low download speed! Thanks very much.
Guest AuirR Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 300K bits/s or bytes/s ? 300K bits/s => It could be NO HSDPA, HSUPA only 300K bytes/s => Network decision
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 if you never break ~384kbit its just plain 3g, and you should call 3 and complain as i know their networks capable of higher
Guest zigzagindex Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks for your reply. This is perhaps another 'bug' for 2.2, I updated to 131800-EU (build 12821) this morning and now it works like a charm.
