Guest JordanT92 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Reading the specs of the tablet online, the tablet is detailed as having a 3G sim card slot.. although not visible on my Vega, is this true? I assumed the cover bit above the webcam was where the wifi radio was, anyone opened one of these things and had a look? Was just wondering before I go and buy a 3G WiFi router. Thanks.

The 3G slot isn't included on this model, although future models are due to include it. No official word on it yet tho......
Guest warriorscot Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 From the dissassembly pictures its obvious where it should go in the vega and if you found and bought the right board you could probably install it yourself but there is no actual slot like in laptop. You could use a Bluetooth 3g adapter as long as its compatible. Not entirely sure what you mean by a 3g wifi router but I assume you meant a 3g adapter as faqr as I know you don't get wireless routers with 3g capability at least not for normal consumers.

These are available on 3 network or unlocked on eBay. They're called MiFi adaptors. Several people here are already using them, there's a seperate thread discussing them. Or some normal routers allow you to plug a 3G dongle into their USB port... http://www.dabs.com/products/edimax-wirele...erver-729K.html Edited December 10, 2010 by JustaBloke
Guest Redmirage Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks for the information guys, was reading up on the UX100, the Korean version of the Vega. http://www.webmachines.co.kr/com_bd_class/...g=1&seq=718 The above PDF shows that the plastic cover above the camera is actually where the sim would go, I guess the UX100 has the 3G module. Hopefully spare parts become available for it shortly, may order myself the 3G module. oops there's no sim slot i can't open it :) and they need some update for manual :)
