UX100(Advent Vega Korean ver)

hi

this is my first topic in modaco

i'm korean

and i get my vega today(we call it ux100 in Korea)

there's no difference.

but i think ux100 use usb host already!!

i use samsung s1mini 1.8' hdd (http://www.storagereview.com/samsung_s1_mini_review)

and microsd reader with 8g sandisk microsd looks good too(usb type reader)

i read some usb thread, but i don't know exactly what problem is.

ps- sorry for my terrible english. :(

edit : webmachines said ux100 works host only.....(webmachines is seller of ux100)

but i can do some upgrade by usb but no slave.

and i like it better than only slave mode

edit 2 : i can't dump my ux100 rom. but webmachines said ux100's firmware is 1.07! newer then yours(i know you've got 1.02 or 1.04)

i try another way after my final.

yesterday i use my usb keyboard with my vega(i work great :) ), i wanna (all of us) enjoy USB host mode

edit 3 : i finish my final exam and dump my ux100 rom!!

Also interested in this as this was the only thing that originally put me off the Vega - and when I finally get one may make me return it - especially if I know there's another one almost the same that I could purchase.

Download VISIONary r14 from HERE and select the 'Temproot' option.

When this completes (run temproot twice just to be sure it has worked!), download connectbot from HERE and install on your device my putting the APK on your memory card and then clicking it in the file explorer.

When connectbot is installed, launch it and connect to local.

Then, type the following:

su

dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd2 of=/sdcard/boot.img

dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd3 of=/sdcard/system.img[/code]


If this crashes when creating the system.img, instead do:



[code]su

dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd2 of=/sdcard/boot.img

cd /system

busybox tar zcvf /sdcard/system.tar.gz *

This will create two img files in the root of the sd card (or an img and a tar.gz).

Upload these to dropbox or similar and send me the link - i'll do a full analysis of the ROM against our 1.04 release. :(

In Korea I'll bet generic OEM's can get away with that, Google won't be looking.

Man I hope we can get a dump of that machine, I'm gagging for USB host and I see 4-pt multi-touch advertised there as well. All probably switched on at the kernel/driver level.

I wonder if the retailler has a firmware download?

Edit: damn I've found a driver section but it just has what I guess is the PC usb driver

Hang on, if the USB port is in host mode, what is this driver for? it can't switch automatically because USB-A doesn't have the USB OTG detect pin...

Found something else, one of the PDFs translates as "[Man] PANTUM Atelier UX100 Image Update Method" I'm wondering if that might contain the location of a base image.

So the file mentioned in the doc is P10_image_20100831_v0.93 suggesting it should be downloadable from somewhere

Don't bother, the only files on the website to do with the UX100 are two pdf's, one shows how to do software upgrades but doesn't provide links to the so-called updates, the other details the buttons and slots on the device, then there's a zip file with an instruction guide and a USB driver is on there too, nothing more :) been looking for a while.

either by viewing the latest news or by searching for ux100

none of them are full rom downloads (2 zips - what looks like a manual or quick start guide and pc drivers, and 2 pdf files)
