setting up tasker app

Has anyone successfully set up tasker to call another app by key press or gesture?

Trying to set up a reboot feature to get around digitiser freezing on the 2.2 alpha roms that im having. Beats a battery pull, but its tested my ability lol.

Well gestures aren't going to work if the touchscreen doesn't work? And I can't see that you can use the keypad as a context? I do have it launching apps based on other contexts so the app launching part works at least.

They are? :) is that the case with all smartphone gestures or just tasker? I've never been into gestures so I have to admit to having never used one and guessed. :)

Yes. Works for me.

You can't do things like shaking the phone but tilting side to side for example works.

So I have mine set to reboot if I tilit left to right three times then hold face up.

In the Gesture section of Tasker hold down Menu (or one of the other keys) until it says it is recording. (Tilt left, short press menu, tilt right, short press menu) x 3, hold face up and long press menu.

Works a treat.... once!

The problem is universal androot, it only properly applies for 1 boot, meaning you need to remember to run it every day. I'd get tasker to automate it but needs you to click on root me button. Anyone know a way around this?
