Guest geldof Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Hi, first time posting. I uninstalled Gallery (as it was very laggy to replace it with JustPictures) Now, Launcher Pro is unable to find any images on the phone, I presume this is due to the lack of Galley? If not can someone explain what I need to do? So now, if it is due to gallery, is there anyway of getting it back? I just tried 2 downloads, both of which failed to install. I'm on the standard Orange Rom, uninstalling apps using Universal AndRoot and Titanium Backup and ideally don't really want to change roms (but will if necessary) Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

My pictures were in the root of memory called in a folder called images, JustPictures recognises the images fine, its Launcher Pro which isn't detecting any images on the phone (in Images or Picture folders)
Guest mrb_2002 Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 My pictures were in the root of memory called in a folder called images, JustPictures recognises the images fine, its Launcher Pro which isn't detecting any images on the phone (in Images or Picture folders) I have the same problem. Uninstalled the gallery app and cannot browse for images in launcher pro (when setting a custom background for the dock) and cannot browse for new wallpaper images from the home screen. Tried to re-install gallery.apk using root explorer and copying to system\apps without any success. Anybody out there know how to re-install the gallery app without re-installing the entire ROM?
Guest m_w_clarke Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Elsewhere on this forum someone has posted the original 2d gallery app. I would suggest searching (you did search before posting this topic, right?) and downloading that. it should sort the problem out and give u a faster gallery at the same time.

Yeh I did search, didn't really find anything, I shall search for Gallery 2D soon though I think the reason the versions I have downloaded aren't installing is due to com.cooliris.media still listed under Manage Applications, with a size of 0.00kb, I'm presuming I need to get rid of this entry to actually install? Any good methods to do so? Cheers
Guest geldof Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Ok, worked out how to do it, download the stock rom from this thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...online-kitchen/ Open the .rar and go to System/Apps, then copy Gallery3D.apk Copy this to the SD card and move it to system/apps on the phone and install (I used Root Explorer) Hope this helps mrb
Guest mikecalg Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Hi Everyone, I am a first time smartphone user and am struggling with the gallery. I wonder if someone could kindly help please. my phone is unlocked but it still displays the orange screen and icons etc as i'm not sure how to get rid of all these - too complicated for me. anyway, i have been downloading some images from the internet using my phone and it's been saved to the gallery. however, when i do open the gallery, i noticed that the images are all disorganised. is there a way of organising the photos? also, how do i know if the photos/ images i downloaded/ saved from the internet is stored on my phone or sd card? Thank you.

Thank you. By default they are stored to the SD card  Using the gallery app itself you can only choose to display them normally or group them by date. But you arrange your images as you would on your computer, create folders on your SD card and move the images into them. (Probably easier to connect the phone to USB to do this although it is possible using any file manager app)
Guest mikecalg Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Thank you Azurren. Does this mean that I should connect my phone to the computer via a usb cable? will the computer then recognise the phone and allow me to create the folders as if the phone was a usb storage device? many thanks once again.
Guest Ghost Assassin Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Hey guys, I know this is an old post but got to it as I had the same problem. I have now managed to fix it and hopefully it will help you and others with it. Test if its a hidden file problem: Install Quickpic, which is a great photo app, works fast too, and also shows you if there are any "hidden" pictures. If this is the case then you need to install Root Explorer (your phone needs to be rooted). Fixing the problem 1. Install Root explorer 2. Browse to your picture folder (on the San Francisco it is the DCIM folder). 3. Long press on it and change permission. For some reason the change in permission is what prevents other programs from finding it. 4. Allow user to read, write and execute the files. 5. Check if your pictures are being detected now Job done! Hope that helps :)
