I bought my Orange San Francisco today (TFT :) ) and unlocked and rooted it however the Superuser app isn't in the menu... however the recovery works fine (even though it's upside down lol)

Installing clockwork has nothing to do with rooting. How have you rooted?

Clockwork is a recovery tool, and a way to install ROMs.

Most ROMs include root so you may want to install one and go from there

Otherwise you should be able to root the stock rom by using UniversalAndroot from the market.

tried the rooting methord mentioned here first (http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/318413/oled-04-oct-r3-superboot-root-mcri/) which completely screwed the phone up... blue instead of orange on screen and then screen not working so I wiped and installed the stock rom from here (http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/318417/oled-tft-06-dec-stock-rom-downloads-online-kitchen/) however it feels alot slower now then it did when I was using on the original stock rom...

**Edit

seems to have picked up in speed and now I can't see a difference

I did this as well, the video of Paul on Youtube shows him installing Clockwork and then superuser appears on the device, he then flashes the device - I think this is where the confusion comes from.
