omnia 900 digitizer outer screen

Hiya, i'm a bit puzzled i just bought a new housing for my i900 and the outer screen is different to the one that's was on it the newer one is harder plastic and just seems like a piece of plastic!

The ones i've seen on ebay called digitizer that look the same but have a strip coming off the bottom of them are the screens supposed to do something other than sit on top of the lcd? The one that was already on it didn't have a strip off the bottom but it had indented lines lined up with the lcd connection and lcd flex cable are they magnets or summat like that?

The cost of this phone is mounting it didn't cost me anything i swapped it for a crappy lg shine but the omnia was in a battered state. I've already spent £40 on housing, new battery & leather case now i've severed the flex cable for the lcd rehousing it so need to buy a new lcd. I think i've spent more than the phone is worth, they are nice phones though and look good with a new housing!

Forget it i have just found out what a digitizer is i must've been ripped off when buying the housing and the reason the flex wasn't attached to my old one was because when i pealed off the screen the flex stayed attached to the lcd!
