MicroSD defect ??

Hello guys !

For the little history, I just bought a new MicroSDHC 8Go Class 4 from Sandisk. Yesterday, I tried repartitioning a lot of times, differents partitions positions, differents partition type (ext2-3-4), partitioning with GParted and AmonRA, but everytime, same result.

From GParted, ClockWorkMod said that it cannot access the SDCard. So I Fastboot flashed AmonRA and repartition with it.

The Desire stuck at "Why So Serious?" screen, or it boot up, but on the first screen I cannot chose my language, frozen.

Of course, I also did a full wipe of all the internal memory.

Does anyone had this kind of mess ?

I plug in back the 4Go microSD delivered with the Desire, repartition it with AmonRA, reinstall the ROM and now everything work perfect. So I'm pretty sure it's the card !

I tested for errors with HDTune and it hasn't detected even one bad block.

Here is the speed test result, where I think the reading speed is really bad.

Can you tell me what I can try to fix all that ?

Take back your SD card and ask for replacement? If the second card works and is partitioned like the first one then something is wrong with the first one.

Or try to make the same partitions on the second card. Make sure that there is no unpartitioned space on it.

Thanks, that was the first thing I've tried. I partitionned, mirrored the first on the new, and everything worked for a few hours before it freeze and it never worked again.

I think I'll take it back as you said, better solution. Just hope they'll take it without any problem...

I'm curious at what is wrong with this card... I just made a low level format with "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdcard" linux command, and now I'm testing it with F3 which is a Linux utility to test SDCard health. It writes files on all the SD Card, report errors and write speed, and then read all the contents and validates if all files are good. It also report errors. I'll post the results here, perhaps it can help somebody else too...
