Ok - quick phone call says they are getting these arrive later in the week. Confirmed, also payment taken, just no confirmation on Arrival/Delivery date. The lady on the phone said that 67 of these had been ordered this morning (I ordered thro dixons, so unsure of the whole DSG!). There's a "load" due in.

I phoned aftersales too, they said the stock showed at -27, but payment had been made etc, just waiting for stock to come in.. Hopefully it'll be here before Xmas.. but at least I'm in the queue!!

this is the worst sales tactic ive ever seen why not put them on public release in shops so that the battleground is even ?

then alot more people would maybe get the chance to own one , instead of the greedy people out there buying them it 3 and 4 just to put them on ebay and make a profit

i ordered my Vega from currys around a week ago, still nothing about delivery though yet. managed to take my money quick enough though ! going to ring em tomorrow i want it ! :)

It's a tactic that has become very popular. Artificially stifle the supply chain, especially at Christmas time seems to work best, people can't get one so want one all the more and gives you a "sell out" product.

Difference is most companies sell out of 100's of thousands of them (Nintendo did it with the Wii and DS a few years back for example) and have massive advertising campaigns behind them, this is more like 10's at a time by the looks of things and is starting to look a bit silly given it's limited audience with just a single retailer and very little in the way of popular press coverage - only non online review so far has been the Times In Gear supplement and that was simply a run down of specs before release by the looks of things. Was one of the ONLY tablets on sale today not featured in this months PC Pro tablet buyers guide too...

The longer they continue to keep them out of the stores, the more likely it is that some of the other powerful tablet hits the market from a brand people know and looking at the coming months this is very much the case with the big brands now starting to get in on it, not to mention that we can likely expect something announced from Apple in January/February which will knock the current gen prices dangerously close to the Vega and others.

I get the feeling they have lost the competitive edge of being the first decent spec cheap tablet "available" from a high street storeto market by not having enough/releasing enough stock.

All IMO of course.
