I have an LG GT540, and I can say, that I am happy with it, especially with its battery life. But every time I surf the web, I find the screen too small for me.

The only thing, which stops me from buying San Francisco is the battery life, because I don't want to charge my phone every day.

To buy, or not to buy

that is the question ©

P.S. I saw the thread about "improving" battery life by charging the phone using USB cable plugged into computer. Does it really help?

I have the Same problem.

But the Other way round.

I want a Optimus because of the Screen Type (Resistive Touch) as i like to use nails and not my fingertips :)

The bigger the screen, the higher the power consumption.

The bigger the screen, the higher the power consumption.

The SF screen may be bigger in resolution and physical size, but you have to add that the SF screen (if you are lucky) is OLED and OLED is not that power hungry. My Orange SF works about 2,5 days with a single charge using the Alpha4 Froyo2.2 rom by Paul (with running 3G, checking google mail and my company's exchange mail), so i think the battery life is not that worse as some ppl say.

What really drains the power is the WiFi and GPS, i don't think we can do much on the software side to improve that.

But also when i use wifi, i am near a computer to plug into USB, and when using GPS to navigate i can use my car charger, so it's not really a problem for me.

So, anyone who is using the AMOLED version i recommend reading about optimizing the power usage of the screen.

For example the new Gingerbread will be more optimized too, but we don't need to wait for it, a simple theme change can help.

Yes, but if the guy plans to switch now, I doubt he will get an OLED Blade.

I think only the OLED version is really worth it (more RAM-> more speed -> less power consumption).

There must be still people who have bought Orange SF Blades only to sell them. They may not be that cheap (99GBP+topup), but hey, it's still worth the money.

I bought mine two weeks ago for about 133 GBP (40.000HUF) here in Hungary.

Thank you for replies. Maybe I should have said it, I plan to buy SF in the middle of January, when all phones will be with TFT displays. Is TFT display consumption so dramatic, that there is no point to buy SF with this kind of display?

I would like to have at least 2 or 3 day of battery life.

Hey, all.

Answer, please.

How long is usual life of the device with TFT screen?

I usually have to charge my tft blade every day. But I use a lot of data both mobile and WiFi.

If I don't use a lot of data it lasts 2-3days. The battery life is comparable to all much more expensive android phones I haveowned.

The SF is miles better than the GT450, there is little comparison. The only good point on the GT450 is the better camera, but it's still lousy compared to a real camera...

You'll have to charge any smart phone every night or once a day if you're going to use it. It doesn't matter which mark, Sony, HTC, etc...

+1 true all smart phones need charging every night or once a day no matter what make including the iPhone and htcs that are many. Times more. What is the problem.with charging it every day you can buy car chargers homr chargers USB laptop or PC chargers. Why nit charge it at night when your asleep why not plug it into your PC at work or your car on the way to and from work. Or as a astronomy resort get a spare battery or two to multiply your use time

If you charge your blade over night then you shouldn't have to charge it until the next night :(

People saying that they get days of battery life out of their phones turn them into "Dumb Phones" and are forced to charge at random times

Honestly if a smartphone lasts a day with your usage it has excellent batterylife

Exactly my point a days battery life is good for a well used smart phone although I sometimes.have to topup charge for sanfran with a hour on my computer some days aswell as.over night. Open just learn to find time to charge overnight or at work or in car is usually best

U know when I compare my girlfriends gt540 to my Blade, the gt540 is so much faster, but i cant understand why, thy have the same processor speed, but gt540 has only 156 mb of RAM compared to Blades 512 or 420 whatever. She has 7 screens full with shortcuts and widgets and its still very fast and without lags, but my Blade is getting laggy with some widgets. Thats way now I`m only on one screen dock, cause if I loud 3 screen with shortcuts and widgets phone gets much slower, especially app drawer. Cant even talk about Live wallpapers, on gt540 their smooth and phone is still snappy with live wallpapers and loads of widgets.

Is that because buggy ROMs of Blades or what? I`v tried nearly all ROMs 2.1 and 2.2 but anyway my blade is not as smooth as gt540 :/
