Guest Scream Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Well i thought i would create a new topic for this as i bet this is going to be a popular topic before not to long. So far i haven't found a solution even though it's clear what the root (no pun intended) of the problem is. When rooting the the new SFs (grey included) the phone reboots but with a new wonderful blue tinge to the display. From what i can tell this is to do with the TFTs compared to the OMLED screens. As not to sure how rooting would cause this i'm scratching my head somewhat at the moment. Other symptoms are the phone locking out after it's turned the screen off. You have to physically remove the battery to get back to the main screen. So far i've got clockwork recovery on without the tinge effect. I believe this is no sys files are being loaded and thus tinge effect doesn't come into play. You can see the moment it happens as the little android dude changes colour a few seconds into the boot. This is the part where the system is checking to see if you have the power to become a root user i believe. Paul could you put a big font note on your rooting guide so people don't fall into the same trap? As it seems the SFs are going to be TFT as standard so anyone coming here to root is going to get caught out. As always any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated as i know of two users already facing this problem. Thanks in advance!!
Guest Gerson2k Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) Which rooting method did you take? *edit* Reading your response in the other thread it looks like you installed Superboot and MCRi that only works for an OLED phone. As fonix has suggested, flash CWM recovery and reflash a stock B08 ROM and you should be OK For future ref if you want to root a TFT phone then use Universal root. This is this good info resource for OLED & TFT phones. Edited December 11, 2010 by Gerson2k
Guest fonix232 Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 It is told to DO NOT use the superboot method on the non-AMOLED Blades! You have to simply flash the CWM recovery, then install a ROM (Hungarian Hedgehog and Finnish Fillyjonk are the best customized ones)
Guest obermotz Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 I have just flashed the boot on a TFT Blade :) I wish I had seen this topic 10 minutes ago - now the display has this blue tinge. Is there a way to put back the original boot code?

Is there a way to put back the original boot code? I dont know who is telling people to install Superboot, its not been needed for a LONG time... The best thing would be to restore your phone using a Stock ROM....
Guest obermotz Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Thank God I found the original ROM image for this phone (T-Mobile HUN) and re-flashed the boot image. Everything is back to normal :) I dont know who is telling people to install Superboot, its not been needed for a LONG time... The best thing would be to restore your phone using a Stock ROM....

Guest Scream Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 foxin232, was just in the process of doing this when i saw your reply. I've got it back to the stock rom without blue tinge, and now to try bladevillian. anyone used this as i'm liking what it offers?

I myself prefer one of kalt_kaffee's ROMs (Finnish Fillyjonk or Hungarian Hedgehog), these are kinda fresh releases (compared to the old B01 england one), with a lot of tweaking for better performance. Kalt even managed to compile a customized kernel, with overclocking :)
Guest hecatae Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I dont know who is telling people to install Superboot, its not been needed for a LONG time... I also bought two SFs and rooted with superboot and had the same problem with color and power button but I continued with clockworkmod and flashing with modaco alpha 2.2 rom. After flashing everything became normal. Both the phone are working fine. For those who are suggesting that there is no need of superboot in TFT phone, I tried flashing without rooting but phone stuck on modaco boot screen for long ( I left it for one hour atleast and nothing happend). I rooted th ephone and flahed it again and it started working normal.
Guest Ricey155 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 i fast booted with pauls early today - and ive got blue photos and blue angry birds icon when they should be red best get a new rom loaded see if it sorts the problem
Guest Sebastian404 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I also bought two SFs and rooted with superboot and had the same problem with color and power button but I continued with clockworkmod.... See this is the part I don't understand, these days you don't need superboot AT all, and you don't need it, or to root your phone to install ClockworkMod... But a lot of people seem to be under the impression you do...
Guest Gerson2k Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 the Superboot topic has no warning on it that it is currently unsuitable for new TFT models, it just has a [OLED] in the title. But there is also a sticky WARNING : AMOLED and TFT Screens

But a lot of people seem to be under the impression you do... Yes, as I mentioned that on my 1st SF I did not root that and installed clockworkmod directly and flashed with modaco froyo rom but it stayed at modaco boot screen. However I later rooted that and flashed again and it worked well. That's why I though rooting is necessary.
Guest hecatae Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 But there is also a sticky WARNING : AMOLED and TFT Screens which only states rom upgrade, nothing about superboot
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 which only states rom upgrade, nothing about superboot I agree it needs updating Anyone with a TFT Phone should NOT be using Superboot - It is OLE only and will be giving users a BLUEish Tint after installation. To Revert back to a Correct ROM Choose a TFT supported ROM from the variety of ROMS here and Follow these instructions http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/
Guest jr866gooner Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 does this mean that those of us who bought a SF in early days have had an added bonus of a better screen?
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 does this mean that those of us who bought a SF in early days have had an added bonus of a better screen? Yes ; If you believe OLE is better. OLE - No Back light - lower power consumption
