Just wondering if anyone has experience with car chargers for the ZTE Blade?

Which one is best?

Where did you get it from?

I want one that is the right voltage etc so it won't kill the phone :)

Thanks in Advance!

Ones I have used to great effect in the past are the car port to USB adaptors - so you just have a tube sticking out your cig lighter socket with a USB port on the end, means you can use any cable you wanted, of any length. Never had a problem with voltages or amps - being USB the voltage should be fine and as far as I know anything over 700mA should be fine for the blade as a mains PSU but i'm not sure the car ones deliver that so it may charge slower.

What I did have is problems with it falling out or coming loose and then not charging devices.

Eventually I took one apart and mounted the electronics in a small box hidden under the dash, then wired the power direct to the car and run a USB lead under the steering column and out to where I keep my phone - I have small micro usb adaptor so it fits either my tomtom or my blade.

It's often possible to "modify" simple car-to-USB chargers to output 1A rather than 500mA. There's been lots of talk on other forums, especially those who use their devices as sat navs (where 500mA may not be enough to stop the battery draining!). But there are also dedicated 1A units.

Here's one mod thread:

So if I find a charger between 700mA and 1A it should be fine is that correct?

I use a universal car charger from ASDA which cost £4. as to amps it does not really matter as long as the amperage is high enough the phone will just take what it needs.

Maplin do some good USB car converters, I got one that has high ampage, several USBs and two 12V car outputs too. I had couple from ebay which were ok for some things but not man enough for my iphone.

Thanks Mate,

Does the charger that comes with that car mount work? or is it a different connection/voltage?

Its complete the wrong size connector :) but its so cheap who cares.

I Keep an Inverter for higher power devices, so I can use original 240v adapters :) I ran an xbox all the way to the south of France on it.

Call me cheap...

Poundland do a Signalex USB in car charger for £1

Works great with my SF... It has two USB port outlets on the front.

well if I had knew, that they are so cheap.... I wouldn't have bought this one : http://www.microspot.ch/microspot/product/...-_Pk/detail.jsf

but it has a 1200mA output.. so it's great for sat navigation..:)

I just received one of these (a month after ordering it!):

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.45626

I was looking to replace the simple ionizer I'd had for a while and noticed this one with two USB charging ports -- the edge lights up blue when on and red when charging. Packaging suggests both are 1A capable, but in practice only the right-hand one manages to keep my SanFran saying "Charging (AC)" in the Status (rather than "Charging (USB)").

I bought one of these the other month:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Micro-Adapt...0848&sr=1-6

Low profile and quite handy. Works without a problem and enough amperage to charge the phone as it is running Copilot satnav.

That one looks neat, however the convenience of walking into a pound shop won out for me a couple of weeks back - got some useful leads and connectors with it too (fair enough, they're made out of tinfoil, but for my purposes they're adequate)

There is a nice one available in Germany:

http://www.amazon.de/dp/B002QPR9DI/

Not sure if its available outside Germany with another branding. It's a featuring a micro-usb with attached cable PLUS a standard USB port, so you can power up another device simultaneously.

I bought this : works perfectly.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002HMZ...ref=oss_product

Also here is a car mount that is excellent : I bought that one too,

http://www.qfonic.com/phone-accessories-sa...ger-p-4176.html

Could you take a picture of the car mount with the phone in it and upload it somewhere. I badly need a car mount as i want to use the blade for navigtion too, but i do'nt ever want to buy a universal holder again.

Does it snugly fit (exact size, phone clicks into and holds firmly) the blade ? Also is the USB connector adequately spaced (when placing the phone sideways with the USB connector facing downwards), is it accessable easily ?

Thanks!

Been looking at that mount but been out of stock for weeks now, may be worth sending them an email to see when/if they are getting it back in stock.

I'm not thinking of ordering exactly from there, as the same type can be bought from ebay a little cheaper (and is in stock), and i can wait 1-2 weeks for delivery.
