Help updating 2.1 to 2.2 on Rogers, doesn't work.

I previously rooted my 2.1 stock rogers ROM with Malez recovery tool and also an update.zip for wavesecure into the ROM. I guess it modified it so it won't take the ZIP file from the acer.ca site. It won't update, it just fails and says "status 7"

Anyone know what I need to do to update it to 2.2. I read all these threads but they're all very confusing with the terms and what I'd need to do.

I saw this thread here and tried just updating with this but it freezes on start up and I had to do a nandroid restore http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...roms-any-phone/

Does anyone know an easy way to either be able to install the rogers update or to use allan's rom above?

I don't understand the part about the radio baseband and having to update with a different froyo rom? How do I do that?

this is what i followed, i haven't completed the update successfully yet, but i'm closer than before.
