Joining Contacts

There's an option in the Contacts app that I've heard talked about which allows you to "join" (or merge) two contacts which have been synced to the phone. I've been looking all over for the option, which is apparently in Contacts- > Menu -> Edit -> Menu -> Join but I can't find it. I've had a good look around but I can't work out whether this is a 2.2 Froyo feature (I'm running MCR r4 on 2.1) or whether I've screwed something up when I've synced my contacts.

Could someone with a bit of knowledge, or has a 2.2 ROM installed, check this out for me and let me know if I'm just being a bit dim?

I know this was asked a few months ago, but there was not a sufficient answer and I hate to dig up old threads.

Thanks for that. I don't even get the option so I assume it must be one of the new features in 2.2.
