Dalvik cache relocation to SD

My phone only has 27MB free space on the /data file system and the dalvik cache takes more than 70MB. So the question is: can the cache be relocated to SD and if yes, is it worth it (regarding speed, reliability and SD wear)?

I'm using the A2SD+ in alpha 3 and I think its great - its freed up plenty of storage space - currently have 160MB of free space vs 40MB when I was using he Froyo native A2SD.

I had to apply this fix to make it stable.

My current ROM is a cooked alpha4 without support for A2SD+. Can A2SD+ be added later via a .ZIP file from Clockwork or do I have to cook a new ROM with it enabled?
