This is the STOCK launcher from Gingerbread, modified for Android 2.2 Froyo.

It is also modified so the 'Manage apps' link works correctly.

Gingerbread Launcher is also a free download on Market for Android 2.2 phones.

Downloaded the free version from the market, installed it, reboot, set it as default, removed ADW from system with Root explorer.

Result: Works like a charm!

Works fine for me 2. smooth like ADW but have no force close sometimes like ADW. Perfect for CM6 AIO v0.4

You can't :) There's absolutely no customization options.

How does this compare in speed terms and useability to the ADW launcher, and is it easy to remove the ADW Launcher and replace it with this one ?

Relative ...

simple method:

1. download Flash Gingerbread Launcher.zip

2. flash it over clockworkmod recovery

more difficult:

1. download Launcher.apk (gingerbread launcher)

2. Install RootExplorer, and start it

3. Go to /system/app

4. Set "Mount R/W"

5. Replace ADWLauncher.apk with Launcher.apk (delete ADWLauncher.apk from /system/app then copy Launcher.apk to /system/app)

6. Set "Mount R/O"

7. Reboot phone.

Can it be that this launcher doesn't support screen rotation? Don't know how it works on your Pulse's, but on my Dell Streak it only comes up in landscape mode and doesn't rotate when I turn the device upwards.
