Guest kendon Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 so, clockwork 2.5.1.3 doesn't seem to work to well, does anyone know what the problem is? why does paul still distribute it? and why would one want to use 2.5.1.3 over 2.5.0.9? anything rom devs could do to make roms flashable with both versions? and why is there no sticky mentioning these problems? this is not the kind of QC i am used to from paul...

I think the big difference is that 2.5.1.3 uses a new format for its scripts so ROMS designed for the old version don't work with it. I believe that ROMS can be setup to work with both 2.5.1.3 and 2.5.0.9 by basically having both an old and a new script, but obviously old ROMS wont be updated. It's not really Paul who caused this it's a Clockwork thing.
Guest veehexx Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 so if a rom is built for 2.5.1.3, will it work on 2.5.0.9? ie: backwards compatible ..or does the rom require support for that specific version of clockwork?
Guest Arr Too Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 I've not found anything that can't be loaded properly by 2.5.0.9 -- although there was advice not to use it for partitioning an SD card. On the other hand, 2.5.1.3 has problems with lots of ROMs (as update.zips). I don't know why anyone would want to use 2.5.1.3 at the moment. :)
Guest kendon Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) I don't know why anyone would want to use 2.5.1.3 at the moment. :) that's exactly what i am talking about. for sure i am not blaming paul, i am just wondering why this is not even adressed in the "known issues" section of cwm2.5.1.3. like i said, this is not the quality i am used to. so 2.5.1.3 uses updater-script instead of update-script, that right? Guest cobhc Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Hmm, I had problems going back to a nandroid backup of 2.2 when I was trying out a 2.1 rom, wonder if this is related to 2.5.1.3 as well? I got left with a boot loop after restoring.
